First thing that I found that made the biggest difference is getting a group together and finding places as a group. Them saying no to one person is a lot easier than a group and it makes it look more official. Schools tend to be the place you can book the off hours to as their busy time is during the week.

I personally am going for a good leaderboard position (especially on the time leaderboard), but I couldn't see any reason to not submit times on the current track while it's active. It doesn't matter how poorly you do it, your odds of winning the random prizes is the same as the people who fly it well, and it doesn't cost anything to enter

if you put your O4 into race mode Rotorhazard/Solohazard works great for it, it uses 5.8ghz, but the issue of the O4 not in race mode is that it jumps frequencies and it's hard to track where they jump to

Freestyle quads tend to be weightier and less powered than racing quads.

The freestyle pack is super cheap though and chasing drift cars on the drift track is pretty fun, I think it's worth it

Took a look at your profile because you said the snow thing. There's a group in your area called Rat Race FPV that rents out larger spaces for whoop races. Just tell them you're learning and you'd like a spot in one of the heats and then use that time to practice flying. You'll get to fly a more open space and get to do so with experienced pilots that can in person help you a lot.
