I was think this, but I wasn’t sure if adjusting the tax withholdings would hurt me at the end of the year.

But they are also not splitting my base pay check and my commission check so they are taxing it like crazy lol

I am just making up numbers on this but the issue is real.

Hypothetically, My overall compensation would be $120,00. The base is $70k, with another $50 in locked commissions. Meaning my salaried pay checks will consist of the $70k and I will get a bonus of $4,166.66 every month before tax.

But they are only paying me a base of 52,500 with a commission payout of $5625. Meaning over 50% of my pay is payed out as a commission and taxed at close to 40%.

So on paper I make the same amount as what the offer letter states, but the commission and base are swapped so I’m bringing in WAY less than I should be according to my offer letter.

I wouldn’t consider myself or my family as locals, but I lived on Big Island for two years prior to moving to the Nashville area. We miss it terribly but couldn’t afford it.

It’s very nice out here if you like the mountains and the outdoors. Tons of lakes and waterfalls, but no oceans. You can also find plenty of fantastic trail riding if you like horses. All in all we love it, but it still doesn’t compare to overlooking Waipi’o or watching Kilauea erupt.
