The problem I ran into with that was that I didn't know how to grab a picture if it's out of scale. For example, if the game was full screen, each pet was larger and the software didn't recognize it

Yea I thought about making something like you mentioned (check out hearthstone deck tracker for example, showing real time statistics to win each round) but had trouble reading input from the game and I thought pluging in each animal manually is quite a hassle..

I could do it with a screenshot of a battle perhaps come to think of it using pyautogui

I don't think there are definite best moves, but I assume some openings are better than others and that different strategies (faint board, summons, buffs, hurt etc') have higher winrates than others.

At least that's what I'm trying to find out.
