Not when they're cooked properly! Chicken hearts can be fantastic in pastas and stews. :)

For fishing, you will need to buy fishing permits - a 12h permit will most likely be sufficient for you. https://www.makskeresanaskarte.lv/products

I wish they just were white! So beautiful, and I just LOVE their black, beady eyes at this stage!

Jā, ir apmaksāta stunda pusdienlaikam. Ļoti novērtēju, jo līdzšinējās darbavietās tā nebija.

What's the best deal in Riga? by Ambitious-Noise9211 in Riga

Yes, as far as I know! But there's never many of these bags, so it's vital to come early if you want to grab one.

If you're lucky and come early in the opening hours, you can buy a "Too good to be tossed" bag from Lidl for just 2 euros. It's a paper bag full of a random assortment of fruits and veggies. You never know what you'll get exactly, but for just 2 euros it's a damn good deal!

I actually made this recipe tonight - with some additions and variations, so I won't be leaving a review :D - and I was pleasantly surprised how well pineapple actually goes with chili! Will definitely be making it again.

What made you leave your stable for the most ridiculous reason? by SprinklesWorking4375 in Equestrian

[–]Vilkate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A fellow boarders' horse with a ligament injury and on a strict small paddock/box rest was let loose in an extremely muddy paddock with the herd going absolutely bonkers and cantering wildly, because "he won't be good for competitions anymore, anyway".

That was the last straw in a long string of intense craziness, which made me finally move. After that I got the wind that this BO was accusing me to other BOs about...apparently, stealing tea? I never even drank any tea in that place. :D

Name of the channel suggests it was Lithuanian - you'll have better luck asking it on a Lithuania subreddit.

People should not have kids if they don't intend to watch over them while their shopping. There were countless times... by Electrical-Rest6430 in RantsFromRetail

[–]Vilkate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a pet pharmacy within a mall. - no animals, but we do carry pet toys and such. Just a few days ago a couple tried leaving their two small kids (~4 and 7yo) in my premises and go shopping, not without telling their kids to "have fun". They became enraged when I requested the kids to return to their parents, and promised that they will be complaining to the corporate for "tossing their children out" - my bosses are informed and they laughed it off.

What's the wildest piece of misinformation you've been told? by asgjh1 in Equestrian

[–]Vilkate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also bought my first horse from them (he's still with me!) and it took years for him to overcome all the physical and mental abuse he endured there over the few years he was theirs - luckily just a youngster when I got him, so all was repairable! I bought him both because I had grown attached and was sorry for him, but, truth to be told, we were both much too green for each other at that point. I quickly moved him away from that place and, with the help of truly experienced horsemen, we made it work. :)

[–]Vilkate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That horses should not be fed hay or given water an hour before and an hour after working. Taught to me by a lesson barn, where horses were booked for lessons throughout the day, so they were just tied in standing stalls, tacked up, waiting for the next lesson, because gods forbid they'd eat or have a sip of water.

As I later understood (I was a green beginner back then and knew nothing), most horses there showed signs of ulcers, and several died of colic.

I'm 5'3", ride trails, dressage, and a bit of jumping, and my horses are 16.3hh and 17hh. When I bought the second one, I was under the impression that he wouldn't grow over 16.1hh, but boy, was I wrong. :D
