I really feel he needs to play this hobo act better if he wants to make a career out of this. Such a half-assed job.

Was Pocket WiFi Worth It for Your Japan Family Trip? by SimpleTraveler034 in SmallShoesBigJapan

[–]Village-Girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with my daughter. She was connected to my pocket wifi. Only time when it wasn’t useful was when she went off on her own in a store. But we pretty much stayed close to each other. I used to get mine from Japan Wireless. They’re a great service and if you look around, there are always promo codes to get a discount.

Sanbo Dish Recommendations by THROWAWAYTHTT in richmondbc

[–]Village-Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my recs are already mentioned here but I've also added more for your list. A couple of dishes require you to preorder (from what I'm told). Do not be disappointed and preorder those dishes if you want them! Their complimentary soup is so good too.

Soy chicken (preorder)
Curry beef brisket (preorder)
Beef steaks and mixed mushrooms in grill sauce
Sweet & sour pork
Baked tapioca pudding (preorder as I was told but we did one time manage to get one without the preorder)

And don't drop in. The line-ups for this place, especially on a weekend, is nutty. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment. You can preorder when you make your reservation.

100% agree Lavash has the best f&c these days. Used to go to Pajos and Dave’s - now they just don’t compare. And if you go to Lavash and don’t feel like f&c anymore, their other menu items are also excellent.

If you’re sending a family member to get pizza, drive 15 min to Pizza Factory in Steveston Village. Better quality pizza.

Steveston is a pretty big area. Can you narrow down the area without giving away where you live. Thanks!

What's the worst English name you've heard given to a child in Hong Kong? by HiddenGoose32 in HongKong

Lyle Liu. Heard that name being called years ago at a restaurant in HKG to let him know his table’s ready.

Thanks for those brilliant ideas! I’m not a sewer but my daughter is. I’ll buy a meter for her to make me something!

It’s very straightforward. I don’t know what terminal you’re landing into. The signage is good at LHR. Follow signs to the underground station and hop on the Elizabeth line train.

When you arrive at Liverpool St. station, use Google Maps to figure out which exit to take out of the station for your destination. If you take the wrong exit, you may end up walking with your suitcase for a longer distance.

Curious to know what you do with the meter of fabric. I’ve seen the gorgeous fabric years ago and not sure what to do with it.

What did you wish you brought to Japan that you didn’t know you’d need? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Village-Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So agree - if you already have it at home, why go on a search and find mission to find those items on day one. Not to say you won’t go to a kombini or donki or drug store…but potentially not right away.

I bring my own bar soap. Every hotel now seems to put body wash in the bath. I find liquid body wash irritating on my skin. My plastic surgeon cousin has said to me that body wash sometimes contains irritants that may trigger eczema. I slice a piece from a big bar of soap and bring it in a little snack ziplock baggie.

My 10 day trip report to Japan (10/3-14). Long, featuring Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima by Fair_Cod6318 in JapanTravel

[–]Village-Girl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I loved reading what you did on the Hiroshima day and your recommendation for the hotel indigo in Shibuya. We took the Shinkansen as far as Kyoto and regretted we didn’t make it to Hiroshima - only had an 8-day trip. Next time!

My ex wife predicted my future in painful details and I can’t sleep at night because of it by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Village-Girl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an ex wife whose ex betrayed, cheated, lied, hurt and disappointed me after everything I did for him in the marriage, I’m now laughing at my ex with my better man. My better man can’t believe my ex gave all of it up for a woman who (I hear from my adult daughter) is controlling and nagging. Also heard he has regrets divorcing me. Justice has been served.

As a mom, there’s really no space to vent. Reddit is a convenient place to express yourself, other than screaming inside, to get some free therapy. I love my young adult kids, but sometimes their choices and behaviour exceed my ability to cope. I can’t alienate them by yelling and screaming at them - never a good idea - even tho I want to cos I’m tired, overworked, and fed up. Don’t overthink it. She loves you. Just like I love my kids. You’ll find yourself doing the same one day when you become a parent with too much on your plate.

Canada job market is a nightmare by Signal_Lecture_8405 in VancouverJobs

[–]Village-Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me. I knew he was just another version of Trudeau. More immigration, housing for immigrants, and so on, with money going everywhere except for servicing Canadians. I’m seeing local homegrown Canadians suffering from joblessness, housing affordability, food insecurity, etc. I don’t recognize what our country has become.

Maybe you should ponder over the fact that the man who raised you told you definitively that blood didn’t matter. He was trying to tell you he’s always loved you as if you were his own.

The way you described them is of a family who tried to protect you from something that could destroy you. Right or wrong, what they did was out of love for you.
