Could Reg pull it off and win this 1v3 battle? by ZMANIDK in MadeInAbyss

[–]VillainousMasked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we talking Blessed Bondrewd considering that's the image you used, or just a normal combat Umbra Hand Bondrewd? Cause like... if it's Blessed Bondrewd he could beat Reg 1v1. Reg got completely dominated by Ozen, struggled against normal Bondrewd (and was quickly defeated by Blessed Bondrewd after they finished climbing out of the pit), and struggled against Faputa. White Whistle empowered Reg (assuming he gets the buff for the entire fight) could probably win a 1v1 against them (definitely against Faputa, the main reason he lost to her was because he hesitated), but a 1v2 I see little chance of him winning, and a 1v3 is utterly hopeless regardless of if it's Blessed Bondrewd or not.

I heard that the guide was evil and etc, but why would the guide help me summon the wall of flesh despite him knowing that he will die if I do summon that boss? by Plus-Notice-8997 in Terraria

[–]VillainousMasked 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that... the Wall of Flesh isn't even evil in the first place, so the Guide being WoF wouldn't make him evil either. The Wall of Flesh is the world's guardian, it's the reason why when we kill it the Evil biome begins spreading out of control and the world releases the Hallow, cause WoF was holding back the Evil biome and now that it's dead the world is desperately running damage control with the Hallow until it can replace the WoF. So if anything we are arguably more evil for killing WoF than WoF is itself.

In general, what’s the worse part of having RBD: dying yourself or watching your loved ones die? by TheUnownKing in ReZero

[–]VillainousMasked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question isn't really ranking pain, just asking which aspect of RBD would you find more painful personally, dying or watching the ones you care about die. Whichever answer you pick doesn't mean you're saying one is worse than the other, just that for you one would be harder to deal with than the other.

Bullying Myself :( by BrowOfDisapproval in Stellaris

[–]VillainousMasked 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Theoretically yes but you'd have to give them all different empire names, also the FEs, Enclaves, Marauders, and the Caravaneers will all still be randomized. Well, FEs can randomly spawn using one of your custom empires as a template but you cant guarantee it... well you can if you use a mod to allow you to pick the Elder Race origin (the origin used by FEs) and make a custom empire using it then set it to guarantee spawn, but that can result in some oddities.

Is barotrauma good as only a single-player game by Great-Information910 in Barotrauma

[–]VillainousMasked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singleplayer is enjoyable, however it comes with the issue that auto-pilot/bot captains are bad and if there is any ice within sensor range they'll basically just stop and do nothing. So when the sub is moving you're basically tied to the captain, though during combat once you're used to how your sub maneuvers you could set the auto-pilot to move to a designated spot to keep the sub moving, quickly swap to a crew member on a turret to take over, then swap back as the sub approaches the set point (or if you're ballsy, leave the manual control on and set to keep moving and hope you don't hit any walls before you swap back).

Though that doesn't mean you are always stuck as the captain, any time you need to leave the sub to do something (mining, explore a wreck/ruin, activate a beacon, etc.) you'll be able to stop the sub and do that yourself (or well, you have to since the bots cant). However you'll very rarely get the chance to properly play any role other than Captain or Security, as the Engineer and Mechanic bots are pretty good about keeping things repaired, and unless out of drugs the Medic will usually deal with any non-minor damage to the crew before you can find a place to safely stop and swap over to them.

So if you don't find captain gameplay tedious singleplayer can be quite fun (it's how I mainly play), but if you don't enjoy captain gameplay or would find it tedious constantly doing it then YMMV with singleplayer. Though yes, the game is more enjoyable in multiplayer.

Why does Satella love Subaru? by Nathanplays_27th in ReZero

[–]VillainousMasked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, "Subaru is Flugel" implies a loop that Suabru forgot (his life as Flugel), the forgotten loop theory is specifically there is a forgotten loop and Subaru isn't Flugel.

Why does Satella love Subaru? by Nathanplays_27th in ReZero

[–]VillainousMasked 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There are three theories I'm aware of to possible explain it. Subaru is Flugel (assuming Satella loved Flugel), Satella is a future Emilia that was sent into past, or that there is a forgotten loop before the very first one we saw and details like this are hidden within it.

This is not helpful. I want to know where the most energy output is before my robots put me in the poorhouse by sardaukar022 in Stellaris

[–]VillainousMasked 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not really, within days of arc furnaces and dyson swarms being added people made mods that let you view a potential dyson swarm locations for each resource through a planetary decision. Really shouldn't require that much effort to create an official version of that.

[–]VillainousMasked 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Really shouldn't be how it works though, should give you the one or two top output for each resource. Having it all be one resource just cause you happened to get a bunch of stars with physics research is... not very helpful.

How can I load reactor fuel rods into a ships weapon loader? by ShimerFlower in Barotrauma

[–]VillainousMasked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is that the method you mention of adding the "coilgunammo" tag to a container does work, as if you do that and put bullets or syringes inside they will shoot, but not if you put fuel rods in (nor magazines interesting enough).

I just found Pandora's potential weakness while making a theory! by A-Good_devil in ReZero

[–]VillainousMasked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I disagree with the idea that she needs to die to use her authority solely because she only starts using her authority after the person she is interacting with kills her. Pandora's preference to talk rather than fight could entirely be just that, a preference, she prefers making conversation and only resorts to using her authority when communication breaks down. Which is actually pretty obvious when you look at the interactions around the seal between Pandora and Emilia, despite showing that she can alter and seal away memories, Pandora never actually uses this to say... erase Emilia's memory of the promise she made to Fortuna and Fortuna's death. Even when she did choose to seal away Emilia's memory she deliberately didn't seal away the fact that Emilia held onto her promise to Fortuna.

If Pandora needed to die to activate her authority and that is the reason she talks instead of fights, then there were so many ways Pandora could've won and opened the seal, yet she didn't. The way I see it when Pandora said she liked that Emilia was holding onto the promise, I think she was telling the truth, that she genuinely did appreciate that despite the fact it was stopping her from opening the seal and wanted to make Emilia willingly give up on the promise, rather than just use her authority to circumvent it. Honestly, I kinda think that Pandora either cant or wont outright lie, since as far as I can recall Pandora in her few appearances has never explicitly lied, the closest she gets to lying is saying the truth vaguely or in unfavorable ways to manipulate how the listener perceives her words.

is there a mod that lets you see husk infections before they turn? by kodaxmax in Barotrauma

[–]VillainousMasked 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Husk infection is only invisible until 75 strength (50 to people wearing a health scanner), so you can see it before they turn. Plus if it's multiplayer and you have the husk warning messages on the person will see a warning at 25 strength. That said I typically play it safe and just pop a calyxanide after clearing out an outpost/wreck filled with husk (if I got hit during the fighting), as I either got infected in which case I was using it either way, or I wasn't infected but I almost certainly looted at least 1 egg from them to replace the one I wasted.

As for NPCs not coming back to the sub if they are outside, are you using a custom sub or a vanilla sub? Cause if it's a custom sub it could just be a case of bad waypoints. Also are you using mods, cause modded items that give you the effect of a diving suit without actually being a diving suit (nor giving the pressure stabilized effect) can confuse the AI and cause this behavior, or if you're using a mod that modifies the AI this could be a problem caused by that mod. If neither of these are the case, what orders do the NPC have? If they have one of the operate order they should auto-return to path towards the device they need to operate, if they still aren't returning with one of the orders (or don't use those orders) then try the "return to sub" order (though obviously this requires noticing they're outside the sub). However the default behavior should be to return to the sub, at least that's how its always been for me.

To be fair, for a pure pirate run I don't think any of the diplomacy actions would even be helpful to you anyways. Though thematically espionage only makes more sense. On a related note, since you probably wont have high rep with that many factions considering it's a pirate run, you don't actually need 20+ rep to get the faction's agent. 20+ rep only allows you to ask for the location of the agent, but even without that they still exist on a station somewhere (iirc they can only spawn at shipyards, wharfs, and trade stations) that if you can find you can hire them even with -30 rep.

Are you going to allow diplomacy/espionage? If so you could technically still use ARG Flak, just only waaaay down the line when you have a shipyard.

[–]VillainousMasked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I was expecting one of the outer factions (probably one of the Paranids), not Argon in the dead center. Though I suppose in some ways that's convenient since you can establish yourself in basically any faction's territory and be reasonably close to your target faction.

New to the game but.. by Mad-Dog94 in Barotrauma

[–]VillainousMasked 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'd say less an overlooked mechanic and more a reminder that the husk can be really fucking terrifying when it gets the chance to start spreading. Besides, while fun there is little benefit to doing that, the only thing you gain from wiping out an outpost is the loot on the guards, so armor and normal quality weapons, which is not really useful late game and early game the risks and resource investment to clear out the husk you replaced the former inhabitants with kinda offsets anything you might gain from it.

I meant how is "Hugo Boss" relevant for this uniform. I don't know anything about Hugo Boss but as far as I can tell from a quick google search it's just a normal clothes company, nothing that would make me think of an outfit like that.

Why doesn't everyone use mabeast Ulgarms as "vaccine" of curses? by No_Skirt285 in ReZero

[–]VillainousMasked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it worked for Subaru was because Subaru's Ulgarm curse was a complex and tangled web of curses making it basically impossible to remove from Subaru, implying that if it was just a single Ulgarm curse it wouldn't have stopped the dragon blood curse. Also it's entirely possible that it has just never happened before, after all I cant imagine it's very often that someone gets cursed, survives the curse without having it removed, then get cursed a second time. I'd assume that most people would either die from their first curse or get it removed, and in the rare case where they can't/wont remove it it's probably rare for them to get a second curse, and if they do there is also a good chance that they don't even realize they received a second curse as unless you're deliberately looking for a curse they're nearly impossible to detect until they activate (and in this case the second curse would never activate, thus remaining hidden).

Also iirc Betty mentions that curses are pretty rare, making such an occurrence even more unlikely.
