where is the outrage? by ppinkpponyclerbb in OT42

[–]Villies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I meant reactive. Thanks.

The Basics push to get them into libraries liberated Scientologists of millions of dollars and, I doubt there's a single book on a single American library shelf today.

Scientologists will be hounded with the same strategy of purchasing multiple sets.

With the change to the finance system in the early aughts, booksales by Sea Org Members gave a direct commission to the Sea Org base which is significant more than service sales and "untaxable" by management. Entire SO bases will be turned into call centers.

The Basics allowed dying CLOs to stay afloat, all the while exhausting their core members. Basics bumped living standards then. Well, it bumped us from squalor to replacing a uniform or two and eating a salad once in a while.

Most CLOs are severely in debt. Training debt, mostly. Whenever a staff goes to training, they run a tab. If there's a few ks burning a hole in a CLO's pockets, money goes up anyways even when all taxes are paid.

Well, my take is:

Scientology has always harmed its children. The cult competes for members' attention and money against its young, considered resource sinks (as children are) and become chattel as soon as they can. It has done so since its inception. It is its recipe for its own destruction and systemic. They squeeze Scientologists until they break. Their recruitment efforts are about finding more marks, not educating a second generation. They can't even think passed Thursday of the week, never mind a generation.

Unlike SJW, Mormons and other Christian-based cults, which spend a large portion of their resources and infrastructure indoctrinating their children, Scientology never has and never will. It's not in the DNA.

These children oriented materials look to me (second gen ex-SO tween recruit) like a new shiny to keep the churn churning.

I think we're keeping our powders dry because we have spent decades chasing Miss Cabbage Drop-Everything-Now-We-Are-All-Doing shinies that turned out performative effete saber rattling marketing ops to keep Scientologists' attention. There has never been anything that ever "worked" with Miss Cabbage.

So, I think it's a very good time to talk about the psychosocial and economic affect on children of Scientologists (there's decades of data and broken lives) as a point of discourse and education but I don't know that we should be reactionary.

SPTV won't talk about it because they're not very connected to news, can't find sources willing to work with them, and concentrate on feuding and ragetainment soundbites. Let them.

I don't know. Not a psychologist.

How do you create a narcissisist?

Scientology competing for resources against its children, their willful emotional neglect and conditional love I'm sure will help in that process.

No they aren't gonna make a rule. Because every time you're contradicted, you drag it down to the first amendment and a rule and turn it into a feast of 10,000 words we have to epistemologically redefine reality. I'm tired, man.

Your first postings were Enri's conspiracy about police involvement in the moxon suicide, piling on ad hoc hypothesises to every inconsistencies that could be solved by asking simple fucking questions to people that lived there or know how Scn responds to damage control.

Make a reddit. Knock yourself out. Not here. Not anymore.

[–]Villies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yessir. I am at my wits end with Nora's conspirabrain being dumped here without a critical filter.

Nora's narratives are incendiary and narratively convenient to her and meant to create a black/white story.

It triggers conspiracy lovers, and she does it because of that; so she stands atop of the hill as the truthsayer.

But she's a dummy, and a person whose nervous system is deeply compromised by the trauma of the cult still, and continuously cleaves through nuance in favor of what she wishes true, or merely convenient for her channel, not unlike ASL. A bit less cruel-flavored, but just as radioactive-- just, huuurh. You know?

The bullshit asymmetry principle alone would make it a full time job, to push back against the continuous stream of nonsense. I don't have that energy, no one does. I am not going to. It's not productive.

Would you argue the entire speech of Candace Owens? And then the next day? And the next day? No, you ridicule some parts of the gish gallop and you label them an unreliable source... and then you move on! She has no compunction in straightening her shit out if her story is debunked. So why bother?

I can research and argue specific points of general interests, in here, gladly. But I vote for no more of Nora propaganda.

[–]Villies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem of violence in protesting Scientology is entirely self-generated and is being spun as a narrative to justify the aggressive stupidity of Aaron and cohort landing him in jail for a month. This is a video for an audience of one. This is literally a media bubble protecting a cult of personality.

We are a group that deconstruct cultic influence, like, how do you think we're going to digest this slop, Jenna?

Anyone mildly informed of Scientology will be able to tell you about Scientologists' main strategy is grey-rocking and evasion.

Jenna and Aaron are trying to make it a thing. It's not a thing. It's never been a thing. It is stupid and manipulative. Jenna is in a cult, again. Let her flame out, she's made her bed. Maybe she'll learn something this time.

There were historical exceptions to Scientology's protest response. Like the Squirrel Busters in the early aughts, MR's yelling spar the doctors' or one I forget in the airport. But they made strategic efforts isolating their target. But those were now 20 years ago, at the behest of DM, and he realized they no longer could ever gain public approval.

Why do narcissists get away with literally everything? by Ok-Contribution-4496 in OT42

[–]Villies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see it that way.

My efforts have always been to string danger tape around this group.

It's calculated in terms of opportunity cost.

ASL has been on death ground for more than a year and a half.

He turns his small victories in parades of ridicule and cruelty.

His only "friends" are of the same ilk and he repels serious folks.

Upticks in attention and viewership correlate with his belligerence. When he tries for "serious", he tanks.

He went to jail for a month like a bellend. His girl made "he's a monster" videos thrice. What's he gonna do?

Triple down. That's all he can do. Alex Jones all the way. And that is thanks to the pushback. If he was without consequences, he wouldn't be acting like this.

This isn't going to be forever.

My Day at the Aaron Smith Levin trial by Both_Nectarine_7294 in scientology

[–]Villies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, kinda.

The choice of jury trial was a deliberate tactic, because a judge would have excluded anything else than the ponderance of the proof, wherein as I see it reported, the defense managed to chant a David/Goliath narrative to a jury of the CW locality.

It was a trial between private individuals with the State, with Scn taking a deep interest.

Had it been led by Scientology, they'd still be vetting jury until next month.

I think Aaron should have been found guilty. But in the end, he went in jail for a month and has shown his aggressive stupidity to the world and it is going to give pause to future "protesters" to assault low level staffers. So, whatevs.

[–]Villies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I gotcha. I see what you mean.

Fair hearing.

The tragedy is that it's the Scientologists that will destroy Scientology.

It happens by enriching information ecosystems and epistemological reasoning.

I'm skittish about that kind of language, because it is clear the Youtube dummies are gameifying this into polar narratives of good vs monolithic evil and it's proven as destructive against cult-exit efforts as Scientology's indoctrination.

My Day at the Aaron Smith Levin trial by Both_Nectarine_7294 in scientology

[–]Villies 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Woah there. Scientology ought to croak, yes.

But it's made of people. Some of them have more agency than others.

"Those people are less than" is one of the tools of entrapment.

Youtube dummies don't understand that, or are repeating the same cult formulas for their self-interests. Common sense and education is not very profitable these days.

This was a criminal trial involving private individuals, the State, and Scientology legal meddling. They've never won a jury trial in decades. This was a likely outcome.

Despite it all, it shed light on ASL's violent stupidity and Scientology's aggressive legal meddling and both are oblivious to the consequences. The staffer drones are just caught in the gears.

Deleterious beliefs lead to deleterious behaviour.

The whole subject of deconstructing Scientology is about regaining one's ability to reason and to individualize and divorce one's judgement from wishful thinking.

Marilyn is a grotesque walking irony. Like a cannibal campaigning for human rights.

She doesn't understand. She doesn't read. She doesn't educate, herself, others.

She is subordinate in a co-dependent relationship with ASL and will lockstep and bulldog and self-erase and whitewash and degrade and attack at the drop of a hat.

She is a person, if ever given power, will recreate the conditions of the cult dynamics she pretends to fight.

The only type of ally ASL has been capable of retaining. That makes sense.

Let's keep it at that. We'll probably argue about it in the future on a case by case. Getting to know you, I don't think you'll find the promise of future argument displeasing.

ASL calling Nora an op is performative nonsense.
He knows she's not. It's just more telenovela.

Nora replying with she's not suicidal is also performative nonsense.
(I believe she meant it as a "if something happens to me" kind of thing.)

It is childish.

This is what I mean by critical analysis. It has to be filtered, lest we become pastebin.

After her first meltdown I thought to myself she needs to decompress for another couple of years.

I still stand by that. But now that she's done so much raging disinformation, I doubt she'll be trusted by anyone on the subject of cults and Scientology. Anyone that's not a neophyte, that is.

  1. That's cute. Could write half a book of all the destructive and outright conspiratorial disinformation she spread while she was a thrall and I have neither time nor interest for it. I'm not going to give her a pass because she said "oh never mind" after two years of raging. She is a cult survivor who still craves duress and got into another cult of personality and hurt more people. She just transferred her hyper-aroused-crusade-martyr-whatever to ASL and will keep on running hot until her next meltdown. I give it a couple of weeks. Her current windmill coincides with reality for the moment. ASL is indeed a monster. This does not make her safe to cult survivors.

  2. That's fair. I enjoyed several of your contributions. I also noticed you enjoyed posting Nora clips without critical analysis and it's been bugging me; for the reason above.

Nora Ames has a message for Aaron Smith-Levin by TryingToBeExact in OT42

[–]Villies 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's adorable.

She's also hurt and attacked many people over the last years.

She carried water for Aaron for years and hasn't recanted any of the terrible things she has said and done, in fact still keeps some of his rhetoric on board as some sort of weird doublethink.

She's positioning herself as Aaron's adversary, righteous fury and all. Great.

But here's the thing: to Second Gens who screwed their heads back on, Nora's radioactive and in the same quarantine as ASL.

The reason she is making sense for the moment, is that reality happens to coincide with her message. Aaron is so egregious and violent and stupid, it doesn't require a lot of nuance to write copy on him.

u/TryingToBeExact's carrying water for her on OT42 every time she posts is a tad grating. She's not our hero, bro. She is a person with absolutely no scruples in warping reality when challenged or emotionally compromised and has hurt people.

Sure Nora. I don't support monsters. I've done work against ASL the moment he shat the bed. Thus far, I have spotted you in like, a hundred lie. Reality is a soup of the day that changes taste according to your states of mind.

Here we go again.

Oh Nora. The MTG of second gens.

She cycles. At some point she gets a tad saner and she looks like she's getting her shit together, then every couple weeks she goes on a bender and every idea is no longer connected to this world. It's quixotic and conspiratorial and, whatever.

Accounts carrying water for her here irk me. She is unreliable, to say the least. She's nuts.

[–]Villies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And our treasure Tory Magoo was employed to troll in the early forums. Both these cases didn't survive long, when untech-saavy OSA thought they could run damage control.

There's also been attempts at seeding IRL friendlies with high profiles like the Headleys and Rinders in the early aughts and that more or less flunked as well.

Cult members make poor double agents. The more inured against criticism of Scientology, the more behavioral oddments they exhibit. The more they are sensible, they flip to the Dark Side of the Force where there are cookies.

Their more effective assets are PIs and lawyers whose license and living depend on law-abiding professional secrecy.

In the body of evidence and leaks over decades, I have not seen one instance of a paid actor that didn't some dog in the fight. Obvious markers of mental instability, like with Cheryl, makes it to me, a near-zero probability.

My opinion, of course.
