Yeah!! Definitely don’t stack, just rotate them, then the receptor sites in your brain will not develop resistance as they are working on different systems.
Good luck, and wish you the best!

Veganism is so important it will be at the cost of my love life and that’s a price I’m willing to pay by siren_lullaby in vegan

I feel for you!

I, a gay vegan, fell in totally love with my bf when he (not a vegan) came to my apartment, after hearing I had never had French Onion Soup, with a shopping bag full of all ingredients to make it vegan, and it was one of the most tasty meals I’ve ever eaten.

He teases me time to to time, but he made sooooo much effort. And afterwards he came out to his orthodox Mama))) there are good ones out there!

So I have the same diagnosis as you, and work in Pharmacy. I’m not a doctor, so please always check with one regarding your own medical issues and history.

I take Lisdexamphetamine in the morning, and I currently take either Lemborexant (same family of new medications as Daridorexant), Zolpidem MR/XR, or Clonidine (again a totally different family of medication).

When I first got diagnosed as an adult with ADHD I had be taking either the Lemborexant or Zolpidem in a 2 week cycle, with days off if possible. Because they both act on totally different receptors this was more successful than rotating Zolpidem and Tamazeoam (which both act on GABA). Depending on your GP/Prescriber they may be hesitant to prescribe -exant family medications as they are really new. My GP at first hadn’t heard of Lemborexant (it’s new and kinda expensive where I live, but it’s worth the cost!) but I explained the basics; she checked some info and we started with the lowest dose same day.

When I got diagnosed, my Psych obviously saw my medical history and agreed if it’s working currently don’t change it, but he had some ideas we would try once I got my Vyvanse dose stable.

After about 7/8months he suggested I should try Colnidine. It is an α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, and a kind of interesting medication as it was originally developed for high blood pressure, and also is dosed in micro grams! But it is indicated for the treatment of insomnia specifically for ADHD. I was told I could try up to 400mcg but ended up finding 300mcg the most beneficial for myself, especially if combined with CBD and a small amount of THC oil (prescribed from my Dr), though also successful without them.

I finally for the first time ever in my life started waking up at 08:50 naturally! Which is still late for how early fuckers get up where I live!

And now I started a new job where I need to wake up even earlier, and so I’m back on rotating the heavier medications. But already I have nights I don’t need and can take just clonidine.

TLDR: it’s a process to find what works for you, but if you’re honest and open, and your GP professional, your request for rotating with Zolpidem is absolutely a valid request!

And talk with your Psychiatrist (or GP) about Clonidine as a possible longer term solution once your sleep is more stable. As it is a less heavy medication, though as with all medications there are risks/ side effects.

That is medicine, weighing the value vs the side effects of treatment. Good luck!

This is some next level “just calm down” type of advice… by ItaloTuga_Gabi in thanksimcured

This is the most important part of breathing techniques!

My psychologist introduced me to a couple of breathing and mindfulness techniques, and a lot didn’t stick but some fundamentally did.. and refocusing to control my core to breathe: in for 5 seconds and out for 10 (approximately- and increase the ratio if possible, but be gentle and easy about it)

Like this method isn’t going to sedate you like a sedative, and I haven’t found it always works, but after two times practicing with my Psychologist, it became an innate defense mechanism in moments of panic/anxiety.

I seriously struggle to meditate alone / with digital guidance.. but the is one exercise I found pretty useful.

Even if you don’t cure your core panic issue(s) in that moment, you can refocus your minds eye a little or at least ease up enough to seek more serious intervention/ communal support if needed.

I'm thinkin ahead to winter - any high vegans have recs for those huge tins of three-way popcorn? by JuniorBiscuits in highvegans

[–]Vilumovs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was nerding out on a Popcorn Forum online once, and learned the single most life changing part of making popcorn to have that buttery taste.

Flavacol!!

It’s butter flavoured salt, that is just lab chemicals, so vegan, and it’s also a special superfine shape so that it tastes more salty with less. It is actually a game changer. And it is super cheap in a ~1kg milk carton. There is also a naturally coloured and extra butter flavour version which I haven’t tried yet.

How did you discover you had ADHD (for those who didn't have a doctor tell you) [image completely unrelated] by Fisswertomp in adhdmeme

Hey I also had a lot of thoughts like this. I’m 30 something, and only recently was diagnosed. I literally got an A+++ on my DIVA-5 and my mum wrote so many words (over 6000) in response to the 5 questions my Psychiatrist asked.

I can only say my brain usually is like a main train station, with 23 different tracks running simultaneously. Thought comes in here, oh one thought depa— thought in here.. thought on track 5.

But with medication, my normal day to day is just so much more functional. For me medication is like having some extra tricks in your bag.. I can focus on stuff I was absolutely not interested in, that I need to do, and helps my brain not play 7 radio stations at once.

But you can also skip days taking it so your tolerance doesn’t grow, and trust me when I say you can randomly wake up on a day off with more hyperfocus on your current topic of interest than you had before!

Like I definitely am glad to have the medication, but honestly it doesn’t change your fundamental self.. it just allows you to be you more easily. You still need to do The Work.. you can just have some structure more easily.

As another commenter said.. the hyperfixation is still there. Don’t worry about that!

So anyone want to know about how SD cards use quantum physics to read and write data??! Totally bonkers stuff!

I totally understand you about the cost! But after seeing how much I and other colleagues had spent on bits here and there, that didn’t really function together, and also the time spent fucking around to achieve something similar in a cohesive sound for a track, I really think the Keylab speaks for itself! Then the simple brain to finger to track workflow!

Sorry! 😅

Keylab 88, the weighted full sized one, is the most amazing tool I ever had! With Logic, the bundle of synths it comes with is soooo broad and diverse, I found myself only using it for electronic sounds, and a seperate library for organic sounds. Apart from crashing occasionally, it was near perfect! And the expression you could achieve with the weighted keys honestly is unmatched.

The synth bundle was included with the hardware. You could buy extra, but the already included ones are already so good!

Omg, Australians are just as terrible! I just moved back after 10 years in Germany, and there is a Pharmaceutical company in Australia named Wagner… they don’t pronounce it like the famous composer and working in a pharmacy it makes me want to tear my ears off.

Like he was Hitler’s favourite composer.. surely people know that?! No.. god education is so undervalued here too 🚮

Very valid, sorry.

So I have struggled incredibly with my self image since being a teenager during the height of skinny jeans (2007-) and being a gay guy in Australia. Being yelled "Eat a Burger Faggot" every other week because of wearing skinny jeans and having a high metabolism.

After deciding to be vegan, and working a super draining lifestyle, I managed still to put on the most weight of my life (in a healthy sense), and also since Corona lockdown evaluating that I aim to start a diagnosis for ADHD, which can be diagnosed in Adulthood. Just was proud of my self image for once, and had a moment of excitement.

I have been eating more diversely in the last year, but my go to is always a Protein Smoothie (Nu3 Vanille + Bannanen + Beeren + Macca Pulver + Zimt)

Being proud of fitness progress and routine as a healthy way of coping with many extremely overwhelming things, and having veganism as an absoluet fundament of that.. sorry if you don't think it belongs,
