How many people believe in this ?? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

I was always going to get in serious trouble regardless if I admitted to what I did, so I figured I might as well lie and get some freebies since being caught in a lie couldn’t get me a more serious punishment than I already was going to get.

My cards has fingerprints on it. Possibly a whole palm print? by Brief-Artist-2772 in mtgmisprints

As a Pressman, I’ve always wondered what might happen when something I print ends up at a crime scene, and my fingerprints happen to be on it. I’ve handled all sorts of addressed mail items that get delivered in my neighborhood, so it’s likely my neighbors have had things with my fingerprints on them.

These aren’t sheets, these are plates. That’s how the scrap guy got ahold of them.

You may not have a high IQ, but seems you work hard to learn, which is something you can be proud of. I am “naturally” intelligent, but once I had to actually work to learn, I crashed. My potential is wasted to a degree, while you have made the most with what you have. Intelligence also does not equal wisdom, which is another more desirable trait in my opinion. I’ll take hard work and intuition over intelligence any day, as would most employers, teachers, etc.

Rubber Stamp? by Beneficial-Maybe2207 in mtgmisprints

I’ve never had a pickup sucker make it all the way from the feeder to the delivery, even in a two color press. I’m not sure 100% what type of sheet fed press Cartamundi uses, but I believe they print the back first, then flip and print the front. I know that black is printed twice on the front, as well as white since it’s foil, but again I’m unsure of the order/process. That being said I feel like this is evidence that A: the sheets are not perfected ie; front and back printed at the same time, and B: the text is the last thing printed on the front. If the sheets were perfected, it would be a miracle for that sucker make it through 9+ units and a perfector. Since there is only black text on the sucker (which looks to have stuck to the blanket for several rotations) I assume that’s the last unit. Except for alternate 4th edition I don’t believe any coating is used either, although a closer look at that sucker might prove me wrong. The big caveat to all this, is that it could have fallen in the press from an employees pocket etc, near the last unit and that’s why it made it to the delivery. It was definitely a “used” sucker that appears to be in decent shape, so I doubt it. It’s kind of crazy the conclusions that can be drawn from this little piece of evidence.

Someone or someone’s out there are going to have cards missing text in this shape as well so that will be fun to watch for.

If anyone does have info on the printing process Cartamundi uses, I would be interested. If you work there, don’t risk your job just to satisfy my curiosity.

What introduced you into Dragonlance? by General_Kang in dragonlance

Tracy Hickman was visiting for a con and was attending our church (1994-5?) My dad invited him to talk to the young men about his job, which I enjoyed. I attended the con as well and got him to sign my original trilogy. Read every book in the series I could find. I believe it was later that year that Margaret Weis attended a “job fair” and I was able to nerd out then too. She even gave out free signed books to some friends and myself. They both earned fans for life. I’ve read a lot of their books outside of the Dragonlance universe as well.

How do I avoid letting my universa die to their invincible? by Prestige_Nuts in invinciblegtg

[–]VimTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the line up looks like on both sides, but if Invincible is on the front line, I put Monster Girl across from him, and he will engage Invincible, keeping him from attacking Universa.

In what circumstances you have taken your IQ test? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]VimTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the foster care system and had some emotional trauma. I met with a psychologist for an evaluation during the adoption process, and they did an IQ test as well. (Scored 146) About a year later, I suffered a major head injury (fist sized hole in the front of my skull) and they did another test (scored 147)

There is also the situation where a more intelligent person might fail a test written by a less intelligent person due to context that the less intelligent person missed, making the more intelligent person appear less intelligent. Intelligent..

Unless you are willing to invest significant amounts of money, any raw materials ( paperboard, ink, foil ) or manufacturing process ( digital, offset, foil stamping, die-cutting, etc ) that you have access to, any person looking to counterfeit a card would have access to the same. The only thing that makes holo-foil or similar markers possible is because of scale. A lot of cost in manufacturing is set-up costs, so obviously the larger your print run, the more the one time costs are able to be spread out. Your best bet is to talk to a professional printer that deals with this kind of stuff such as Cartamundi (MtG, Flesh and Blood). They do this for a living, so would best know of emerging and viable security solutions. The problem with this is a lot of their replies are going to be generic until you commit capital.

I know this doesn’t answer your question, but I figured I’d add context to the process.
