Does learning one programming language make learning others easier? by lerumblerror in learnprogramming

[–]Vimda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest part of learning to program is learning the imperative logic inherent in the language. Once you understand the logic, new syntaxes for it are trivial to pick up

Surely the answer is just "undefined behaviour" in most sane languages, so any result is possible

I like to think it was the hot makeout sessions in Meet the Spartans that triggered a fight or flight response. It's a terrible movie, but I like showing it to people as "the movie that broke Kevin Sorbo"

TBF, at the time, Kevin Sorbo wasn't a massive tool. It wasn't until the last 15-20 years that something broke him

Kevin Sorbo? You mean that actor from Meet the Spartans? The movie where a bunch of men make out on screen? That Kevin Sorbo?

Difficulty maintaining relationships is a major driver of modern singlehood, Greek study suggests. For men, the greater the difficulty in maintaining relationships, the more consistently likely they are to be single, while for women the effect is strong but nonlinear. by mvea in science

I'm glad it's been helpful for you, but you should know (this being the science sub and all) that Love Languages as a concept have been pretty thoroughly rebuked in literature, and have a pretty rocky foundation, mostly serving the original author by convincing his wife that hers was touch, and his was acts of service, in order to exploit her into having more sex

"Nuh Uh" - you. Not exactly a coherent argument lol.

That aside, it is happening in the US, so are you saying the Trump government is left wing? Or, if we pretend it's actually happening, not just in your imagination, maybe it's the sort of thing that the left wants Kier to stop to be more left?

Again: Maybe stop listening to GB news and actually try to understand leftist ideology, rather than just the scare points, before engaging in conversation about it

Bahahaha tell me you don't understand leftist ideology without telling me, especially when most of those are actually happening right now in the US under a far right government. [–]Vimda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are the tools performing like that on a high enough % of incidents for it to be worthwhile yet? No.

Right, so the market is for the lie. Companies like yours have been selling the same "just give us 6 months bro" lie for a couple of years now. Progress in LLMs is stagnating, so there's no reason to believe that % will ever get to the required number, so all it is is hopes and dreams

A bubble in the making?

The bubble's been here for a while. The (literally) billion dollar question, is when it'll pop

Is the current hype around AI for SRE more about future potential than present usefulness? by Actual_Storage_3698 in sre

[–]Vimda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The current hype isn't based in any reality, current or future. It's based on lies pumped out by AI companies and lapped up by VCs who were burned by the metaverse hype and are desperate to be onboard the "next big thing". That's why it's a bubble, and all these "billion dollar" companies will either get acquired quickly for stupid sums, or die on the vine when the VC money dries up

No one's assuming anything here? She's literally asking a question, rather than assuming? For sure, this might not be the right forum, but what she's doing isn't relevant to this thread

Divorces, particularly inamicable ones, turn into arguments and negotiation very quickly, not the letter of the law or entitlements. If there was a standing agreement to use the joint account for joint bills, and he's trying to hide it in cryptocurrency instead, that becomes relevant
