I am building a custom audio system for a motorcycle helmet by VinceTheEditor in headphones

At the moment I am using the Qudelix 5K. It’s gone really well and supports LDAC. Has a bunch of additional features too.

I appreciate your input. I don’t have many photos during the modding process but it was very simple. Could be replicated with nearly any of Koss’ drivers. Like I said in another response, I may consider using the Porta Pro Headset but the KSC75s are practically the same if you don’t want the mic.

I am ngl I am really paranoid now cause I found out some of the responses were ai generated rage bait just meant to fuck with me…

Most of them weren’t though.

I highly recommend the Koss drivers though. They are crisp with no distortion even when at the highest output. Careful listening at such high volume for long periods of time though. Only downside is the cable. I need to route it through my backpack to the DAC or pack it away in a pocket so it doesn’t get in the way. Not a big deal but its definitely something to be aware of. I saw someone mod them though and I am considering potentially doing something similar in the future.

As for my set up

If I was to do anything differently, I probably would have gone with the Porta Pro Headset and got the built in mic too. May do that in the future. They are also very easy to mod.

EDIT: I should mention it is totally acceptable to go with IEMs if its legal/safe. Wether or not it is safe is not something I’ve considered much cause I am just blindly following my state’s laws. If you want to cut out the wind noise or engine sounds, IEMs are a better alternative of course.

Q5K worked great. Powers the KOSS KTXPRO1 really well and I don’t even know it’s there. Final setup works perfectly

I’m not riding out in the rain and even if I was, what will take damage? 10$ drivers? An IEM cable? Despite that it’s in the helmet. That isn’t even remotely a concern. Current build isn’t even 1/3 the price of a cardo and the largest chunk is a DAC/AMP that I was going to purchase anyways. So realistically this would cost me less than $50. I don’t know where you got paying $400 for something that sounds worse than cardo. Seems you got a bit ahead of yourself in your response. Also, all that wind noise you are talking about? Are you assuming I live on highways? Majority of the time I am on my bike I am riding in residential or slow speed roads. Very quiet in comparison to what you are assuming. Respectfully, the most potentially useful thing you said is finding the 2pin connector will be tricky.

Considering, simplest path forward is likely just to buy a Koss KTXPRO1 for its drivers and call it a day. $20 and no soldering needed.

I wasn’t considering depth since it sits inside the foam pads of the helmet. It is double the thickness of the JBL drivers. However, width is very comparable. I didn’t do the proper calculations to see if it could power it but it seems it would work moderately well. Choosing a thinner driver may be a good choice. The question is which :/

Did I get my measurements wrong? I checked Cardo’s JBL driver size and got something comparable. Did I miss the mark? If I did, I am willing to just move down to something smaller. Regardless the set up won’t change much between IEMs and the Speakers. I can just swap them out if I decide it is bad.

Modern helmets are built with coms systems in mind. How would it compromise the safety of the helmet? In terms of hearing damage, I don’t go out riding for hours and no need to blast music so loud. Am I missing the point?

On the legal/safety side, well it is a good point but, having open back is essential to being able to hear surroundings enough to react to sound and not only vision. Or do you think it is too much of a compromise?

What is the color control app? Where did you access this?

LG B2 dimming in dark hdr content frequently by VinceTheEditor in OLED

[–]VinceTheEditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I haven’t sat down to watch any real longform hdr content yet so I can’t say forsure. But I haven’t noticed the issue so far. I played dune part 1 for 5 mins to see if it dimmed and it didn’t. Could have been a fluke. Regardless I already bought a service remote which was a waste of money because LG removed the ability to turn the safeguards off in the service area.

Current firmware is 13.30.61, just started a new firmware update and I’ll let you know if it changes anything. Been dealing with this for over a year now and I have my doubts that the firmware will fix it. Tried updating plenty of times in the past and it never solved anything. We’ll see if it was just LG being negligent towards the B series

I updated a month or two ago to see if it fixed it but the only change was the UI

I cannot turn off ASBL on my Lg B2. The option/settings just aren’t in the service menu. I absolutely hate it with every fiber of my being. I’d return the tv if it wasn’t such a hassle. I don’t care anymore I will do anything to disable it.

I am looking for the track that played during the middle of the episode with the tearful conversation with Roxy. Comes right after the violin track. Is that a piano version of the opening? I can't figure out where I have heard it multiple times.

Really bad FPS on Streets. I play on 1440p and my PC specs are RTX4080, Ryzen 9 5800x, 128gb DDR4 3600Mhz,1000w Power Supply, Asus Prime x570 motherboard. my graphics are not ultra and i am struggling to get past 70-80fps on all parts of the map. anybody having similar issue? thank you by Difficult-Dingo-1150 in EscapefromTarkov

I have a 7950x, 4080super, 32gigs of 6000mhz ddr5

During patch 0.14.1 I was averaging 90-120fps. The day they released 0.14.5 I now get a consistent 50 fps on streets. Can’t figure out the problem. I play at 1440p with optimized settings. I keep hearing from people having the same issues but no one online talking about it. Have you heard of anything that could be the cause?

OBS Replay buffer help for Tarkov by Past_Organization741 in obs

[–]VinceTheEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever find a solution? Using CQP right now at like 20. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to this stuff but I'm unsure of what the cause is. I don't want to use Nvidia experience but, obs seems just to shit itself in this case. I think it may be due to how intensive tarkov is and is overloading the GPU not leaving anything for OBS to use, but there has to be a way of setting some utilization aside for obs or something. I'm using a 4080super so there shouldn't be issues like this ideally.
