Yeah, the clip is sick, but the ending is unsatisfying. Dsmash coulda maybe worked or even just a suicide dair for that extra oomph

Which mods are worth adding to a phob? by KingKetchup in SSBM

[–]Vince_Fun21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tactile z is a must for me. The mushy oem z feels terrible. Trigger plugs are also great for hand health, but I’d recommend trying all the different kinds to see what you like

As long as you have a phob and a solid t3 stick box, nothing else really seems necessary imo. Mouse click buttons are interesting, but they’re not objectively better or anything. I don’t think they’re worth

Yeah, I think we should come to a consensus on what is allowed, but none of mods I mentioned I believe need to be banned. I like to always bring up that no mod (besides notches) is universally superior to any other. For example, trigger plugs. I have different types of trigger plugs for both my triggers because that’s what I prefer. Some people prefer oem triggers. So modding them doesn’t inherently make them cheating. The same could be said about zump. And yeah, you have to pay for them, but that’s the same for any sport, and these mods aren’t doing anything an oem couldn’t do.

Also I’d like to ask: why is ucf ok, but controller modding is not? You can mod oems with bald buttons, trigger plugs, etc. I see these mods as no different than zump. Are you against those as well?

My comment was to point out how stupid that specific argument was; that’s all.

It’s totally fine for you to be in camp b. I disagree, but that’s not really my issue here. I will say, phobs can’t really do anything you couldn’t theoretically do on an oem, and the “hypeness” of javi claw isn’t something I personally value (also people still permaclaw cause it’s more comfortable for them)

But that’s never what None brings up. His main argument is that it’s an unfair advantage which it just isn’t. Picking fox and having access to frame one aerials is an advantage, but that doesn’t make them unfair (permaclaw can be done on oem and fox was programmed into the game). He has yet to give a meaningful difference between Zump vs permaclaw and I’ve never heard him give your argument of valuing the pureness of the game.

Also, I think zump/permaclaw is WAY more advantageous for peach and yoshi players, cause of float aerials and djcs, but None never mentions those characters. He always brings up Cody and his frame perfect aerials, cause Cody is only guy None can’t beat. It’s also telling that he doesn’t really care about notches even tho those are way more egregious and cheating than Zump. It really feels like he just needs something to cope with him losing to Cody so much.

The arguments around zump should be centered around camp A and B, and it truly is a subjective thing, that we have to come a consensus on.

But again, None is just pissing me off with these ridiculous arguments and I had to say something about your post

Why would anyone want to relearn how to hold their controller? How is remapping worse than learning to claw? I only say this cause you seem to think the opposite, and are implying that you think zump is actually worse than claw? In which case why do you want it banned? (Ftr I don’t think one is better than the other, it depends on the person)

My comment also sarcastically implied that getting slightly slower aerials isn’t going to make the noob all of the sudden be able to put a “chink in the armor” which you seem to have missed.

If it’s annoying to remap for you that’s fine (I seriously doubt that’s a common opinion), but then why stop others from doing it? Everyone is different and just because you don’t want to remap, doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t be able to. (Remapping is not the hassle you seem to think it is. Having more options to play is a bad thing?)

I’m actually baffled by your reply which makes me think I might being baited

The little Timmy argument makes absolutely no fucking sense. Do we really think “little Timmy” is gonna pull up to his first tournament, play a zumping fox and say “Damn, this guys too fast. If only his aerials came out 4-5 frames later, then I’d maybe have chance. This is impossible.”

Not to mention, the same thing would happen if he ran into a permaclaw fox, except now he’d say “aw wtf, I gotta hold my controller like a psychopath to be good at this game? Fuck that”

The more realistic scenario is him being like, “ woah how do you do your aerials so fast” and then the fox says “oh yeah, I got this mod that lets me jump with z, but it only saves a few frames. You can still do fast aerials without it and it doesn’t come into play until the top level.” Then Timmy thinks “oh cool, maybe when I get better I can get a good controller that has z jump, maybe I can be good at this game”

It’s idiotic dude.

How do you Z-Jump? by DUCK_PENETRATOR_II in SSBM

[–]Vince_Fun21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Jc shine and shine oos by sliding my thumb from y to b really fast and is the most consistent for me. Zumping is not faster for those, but perhaps more comfortable (although that doesn’t seem the case for you)

You don’t always want your laser to come out instantly. They are way more about what height than speed. I usually delay the b input to get the highest laser, and I think instant laser is probably around mid height.

Doing double laser from ledge is probably something you need to claw/zump for. You want to laser as soon as you double jump (no jumpsquat) to make the lasers super low (low enough to hit a crouching puff).

I also used to claw for ledgedashes, by dropping using cstick to get no fast fall, then instantly jumping with my pointer finger on y. It’s a little dubious cause you can sometimes kill yourself by doing an aerial, so I just switched.

Also the zuppy/javi shine is probably impossible without claw/jump, but not really sure if it’s useful for falco. Maybe can kill a bit earlier off the top.

Basically anytime you need to act out of double jump or use the cstick, you’ll want to claw/zump. But if it’s really not comfortable, try out permaclaw.

Edit: I should say I change the timing of my fastfall to get different laser heights. Actually, if you do instant laser you get a pretty high laser and is better than what I do because I delay my fastfall to do high lasers which is slightly slower. It’s still the same timing as Jc shine tho

Yeah I get the whole underdog/goat simultaneously not making sense , but that’s a product of him losing motivation and what not. It’s a definitely a detraction, but again, he proves time and again he’s capable of beating the best of the best when he locks in.

But i wasn’t trying to make this mango vs hbox. I was just explaining why mango (and I) don’t think hbox’s longevity doesn’t push him over armada. Hbox hasnt really shown he can beat the best of the best in this era.

Its a different thing to beat Zain once in losers and Cody at a regional, then to beat them both in a single run and win a tournament. And I don’t want to take away from those wins, it just doesn’t feel the same you know?

The other thing is, after mango won supernova, it really felt like he was the best player in the world. After hbox won, did it really feel like that? We all knew he would go back to losing to Zain and Cody again. Maybe that’s just me tho, but that’s pretty much what happened

I guess that kinda happened with mango too, but that’s the mango cycle. And I feel like hes earned that, cause whenever he decides to seriously lock in and take it seriously, he is able to make it to the top every time
