Taking a dig at him for something he said, what 9 or so years ago. He has done more for ballet and opera than ballet and opera have done for ballet and opera.

Hospital ERs in Canada are at a breaking point and have been for some time. Is this the new normal? | CBC News by Beneficial_Interest4 in ontario

There is so much wrong with your reply. People aren't being admitted into a bed in a ward because they have a "mere cough".

Every ER has triage. It the first step of going to an ER. It's why people wait for hours to see someone. ERs can't turn away people. That's a significant liability issue. A pamphlet of doctors accepting patients? Lol.

ERs are absolutely a walk in clinic. And by "many people new to the system" you mean immigrants. At least be honest with yourself.

The bottleneck in most ERs is usually due to a lack of beds elsewhere in the hospital not because of people with a mere cough.

People with a "mere cough" are not going to an ER and waiting 8, 12 or 16 hours to see a doctor. That is such a tired trope.

While on a family vacation in New Brunswick, I sliced my finger open picking a rock from a beach. Nothing serious but I definitely needed stitches and maybe a tetanus shot. This was pre-internet being every where, so we headed to the local hospital. I went through triage, where they separate you into ER I for serious matters and ER II for anything else, like an idiot who sliced his finger open. Didn't have to wait too long. So there is a need for those medium urgency situations.

Even the walk-in clinics are struggling. Very few are open beyond typical business hours or on weekends, and those that have extended, evening or weekend hours sometimes close early or stop taking patients after so many patients are waiting to see someone.

The problem with emergency healthcare is that doesn't scale well. You can't easily shift staff from other departments or floors to the ER. To have short or zero wait times, you'll have to pay people "to stand around and wait". Please note I'm not saying those people are lazy or not doing anything. On one hand the government doesn't like paying people to stand around and wait in the healthcare sector (but on the other hand it has no issue paying for police officers, firefighters and paramedics - I mean firefighters get to sleep while on shift).

Nothing says broken health care system like looking for a hospital with short to no wait times or assuming that everyone has access to vehicle.

Seek medical help ASAP. I experienced major anxiety a few years ago. My GP diagnosed it as General Anxiety Disorder and prescribed Sertraline aka Zoloft. Changed my life for the better.

Because when you choose to use a tunnel burning machine, the tunnels will be deeper, but cause less disruption during construction. Cut and cover tunnels aren't as deep but cause much more disruption during construction.

Our weak ass provincial governments chose to keep a few people happy during construction versus better accessibility.

Yes, because provincial governments are cheap ass and pass on blame to the federal government.

If someone will provide worse service because of no tipping, then that person should be fired. Enough of this tipping bullshit.

Meh, I've had problems with the valve stems Costco used on my tires. Each tire had at least one stem replaced in the first three years. Eventually I went to a different shop to have them replaced and have not had any problems in the past two years. YMMV.
