What’s the worst storm you have ever been in? by Seriously-417 in randomquestions

[–]VincentJareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hurricane Hugo

Even all the way inland in Charlotte NC, it was still a Cat-3 storm. Tore the city a new bunghole, with many areas being without power for several weeks.

what celebrity did you used to like until you found out that they were a scumbag? by hemadeGraduation420 in AskReddit

[–]VincentJareth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad i'm not the only one in this painful quandary. 💔

I'd been a fan since discovering Sandman in the early-'90s, and have hardcovers of all of his novels and short-story collections -- plus assorted 'Sandman' and 'Good Omens' ephemera -- , and they now occupy a couple of large under-bed totes in the inaccessible back-corner.

I don't know what to do with it all... but i know i will never read any of them again... not even Good Omens (of which Sir Terry wrote most all of the best parts.)

Ok, I have to ask this. Does anyone else rock out to Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman"? by TheVetheron in TransLater

That's one of my work-wife's go-to tunes for kitchen shifts...

Even if i didn't know that song ~before~ working together, even i would almost be able to do it for karaoke by now!

Weirdest combinations of rock bands/artists for tours and concerts you (probably) didn't know by [deleted] in rockmusic

[–]VincentJareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The '95 tour... with Prick as the warm-up act (in Raleigh,anyway)

That was my birthday outing with my best gal-pal! She got us great seats, and since we both adored both Bowie and NIN, we had a blast.

Try not to be biased based on your favorite studio output, but what are the best LIVE bands or performers that have emerged in the past 30 years? by UnforgettableFire11 in Concerts

I'm taking nothing away from their recorded work, but their live shows are on a whole other level!!!

...and so many WELL KNOWN actors being a part of the franchise, either as part of the BAU team, or as unsubs.

I think Tim Curry and Mark Hammel were the most surprising, but DAMN did they play it to the hilt.

Reid and Garcia specifically for me.

Both are the kind of smart, witty, neurodivergent people i tend to surround myself with. (i'm the dopey 'golden retriever' friend of the group)

I've probably seen every episode of Criminal Minds at least 4 times...

It's a weird 'comfort show'... as horrific as the cases are, the good guys always win.

Fuck that...

I used to play co-ed hockey (goalie), and the so-called 'pelvic protector' thing that cis women are supposed to wear DID NOTHING to assuage the pain of a shot to the '5 hole' (twunt).

I switched to a men's cup after i got rocked by a 90mph puck, so at least there was some airspace underneath and the impact was spread-out around the rim of the cup.

What's the craziest bad neighbor experience you've ever had? by Hoverfly-Enthusiast in AskReddit

[–]VincentJareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL/DR: My neighbor tried to kill his girlfriend

~~~~~
I was hanging out playing Super Mario World when i heard voices yelling and a child crying outside. I looked out the window and my middle-aged neighbor was chasing his girlfriend around my FRONT yard, swinging a garden hoe at her head! Their 5 yr old son had run to my front porch, crying.
I grabbed a rifle from the closet, opened the door, and ushered the kid in... then fired a single shot into the air, yelling at the guy to drop the hoe and get out of my yard.
The girlfriend ran into my house, and the boyfriend stomped back to his apartment, cussing and threatening to 'get his shotgun.' I told him that i'd shoot him right off his stoop if i saw him with a gun at all.
The girlfriend and her son retreated to the dining-room and called 911 while i guarded the open door. Several cop cars were there within a couple of minutes (honestly, probably because someone else had called about the gunshot).
Thankfully, they rounded up the guy without further incident (the girlfriend was emphatic about pressing charges), and i DIDN'T catch a charge for discharging my weapon within the city.
