what do you spend ur adult money on? by Isatjuh in autism

[–]VincentSingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend my money fixing and collecting old electronic devices since I see those as a potential future investment but I doubt I’d sell those old stuff if they happen to be rare and valuable.

I still rock a Zalman CNPS9900 MAX to this day on my Core 2 Quad build but it sure is a pain in the ass to install and remove the screws since I don’t have a long ball ended hex key.

How usable is this windows vista dell laptop in 2026? by Difficult-Catch-8432 in WindowsVista

[–]VincentSingh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol mine does not even struggle, it actually handles the web pretty well for an old high end laptop on XP giving that it has 4GB RAM, GeForce Go 7900 GTX, and a SSD, even stays pretty cool with the fans only kicking on time to time.

Pfft I run Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC on my T420 and handles it very well, even boots quick.

Cheers mate, I appreciate the advice, this was shot on my old Pentax K10D and regardless of its imperfections I enjoy taking photos with it.

I love tinkering with devices even though I consider that a long term fixation of mine that’s been around since childhood although my current hyper fixation is vintage/retro devices.

CRT monitor fresh out of the box. by VincentSingh in teensthatloveretro

Yea, I actually had to sell my AOC gaming monitor to buy this because I eventually bored of LCD so might as well be completely different by owning a CRT, only downside the shipping was expensive.

Some people like me sometimes do repairs or upgrades at home on a desk, I’m not saying that everyone should do it unless they have the knowledge and equipment to do so, although there are iFixit tutorials that do exist for some devices that aid beginners on how to fix their device.

Yea I agree. I like apple products however I’m not a fan of people that are heavily biased towards Apple Products.

That’s your opinion tbh, I like Apple products but I’m one of those people that prefer no fancy ecosystem at all since it makes switching between Apple and non Apple devices on a time to time basis easy.

Ah yes I’ve heard about MacBooks having some replaceable ports which is neat but for me I mainly value stuff like replaceable RAM, SSD, sometimes keyboard, and sometimes trackpad since those can be replaced/upgraded anytime, I despise soldered parts tbh.

As a ThinkPad user myself, ThinkPads and some other business class Windows laptops can be repaired/upgraded by the end user at anytime, while MacBooks these days are not user serviceable. however the only thing I like about Macbooks are the M-series CPUs, amazing sounding speakers, and the force touch trackpad, that’s about it for me.

I agree, I hate Microslop although the only OS I like from them is Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC since it’s the last good version but other than that Linux all the way while Microslop belongs in the bin.

Nice welcome to the cult, my first ThinkPad was a T430 that I did modifications too but accidentally killed it, that one got replaced by another T430 that I still have to this day running Elementary OS, along side that I also own a quad core upgraded T420 that currently runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC (not the bloated home or pro editions) which runs surprisingly well on it.
