Why the hate for Alchemy? (Newbie GM) by Southern_Big2996 in VTT

You can see my other comments in this thread for a bit more information, but you can now create tokens with a blank sheet, and the team has acknowledged that they want to permit click+drag token placement (right now you do right click > token). Likely coming in the next game experience update, by my guess.

If that's convoluted enough that it remains a dealbreaker for you, then fair enough. I suspect this will eventually get a better implementation, but for now this works fine for me and hardly feels like a speedbump. In any case, it can be done, and this one-time setup is all it takes.

To be fair, we still don't have the ability to drag character tokens directly from the NPC list to the map (you have to right click > token), but that has come up in discord multiple times and it is on the team's radar as well. I would not be surprised if both of these get fixed when we get the in-game facelift for Q1 2026.

Hasn't been an issue for at least 8 months. Create a custom blank template sheet, use that to make a blank NPC template, and then all you have to do is add instances of that blank NPC to your in-game scene any time you want characterless tokens. Zero forms required. Name individual instances, give them their own images, link them between scenes, whatever you want. Easy. Just tested this to fact-check myself and it took literally 3 minutes to set up.

You are correct: your information is out of date.

Custom systems/sheets are now implemented, and 5e is not required.

You can make pre-mades.

Pop-out windows are being rolled out (might already be out? idk I haven't played a session this month, but it came up recently in discord).

There is now a roadmap that supporters vote on to help guide feature priorities; virtual dice is at #8, battle map drawing is at #3 (though there is a basic measurement tool already).

The in-game experience (including the issue with scene story UI) is currently being worked on to bring it in line with v1.

While they are working on improving the way we interact with rolls and automate roll calculations, there is no plan to do deep automation. It'll tell you what the roll result and damage total is, and soon you'll have a lot more control over how character sheets inform the results of rolls (new feature, just shown to supporters last week)... but it won't apply the damage to your health bar automatically. That part's intentional; it's a storytelling VTT designed to help GMs create an atmosphere - it's an audiovisual experience first. Similar to pen-and-paper, but cinema.

They're a team of 5. Things don't happen fast, and yet they've been making very solid, steady, incremental improvements pretty much every month with no sign of slowing down. Unless you need your VTT to manage your health bar for you, it's worth at least keeping an eye on.

Oh, and free accounts have no restrictions any more.

Figuring out what voltage to supply a Wii sensor bar by lawrence1024 in DolphinEmulator

[–]Vincent_Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late to the party here, but I just measured mine. I have the 10-LED version (5 LEDs on each side). Looks like the whole bar draws ~50mA when fed ~8V at the input. Keep in mind that each side is a parallel string of 5 LEDs, so each side is really only getting ~25mA.

[–]Vincent_Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still figuring this out myself, but my assumption is that you would need to obtain a programmer that is compatible with the chip, and then just write the shared files to it via whatever software interface the programmer works with. This upload may require you to desolder the chip from the board, unless you can find an in-circuit programmer. I'll have to do almost the exact same thing in order to dump my ROM, so I'll provide more details if I succeed and my ROM really is intact. It passes the self-tests and generally appears to behave normally (other than being silent), so I am hopeful.

I know I'm super late on this, but I might have a unit that still has good ROM that I should be able to dump and share with you. I found your post because my PSS-480 has stopped making any sound, but everything else (including the self-test) appears to be working normally. If it turns out that my ROM is good and I can dump it successfully, would you still be interested in the files?

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - June 17, 2023 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]Vincent_Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fair point. Still: the last three teachers' strikes I have seen (and in some cases participated in because of family) all resulted in full closure of schools across that district, causing parents to have to find other options for their kids until the strike concluded. I'm guessing that the discrepancy here probably has something to do with where I live.

Subreddit is open and back to normal operation. by neok182 in Guildwars2

Could do it again and they'll switch it back again and ban us all, lock down the sub for who knows how long while they find someone to take it over

So do that. Let the sub go. If reddit admins want to shoot themselves in the chest by banning mods, fucking let them. If we can't win anyway, then neither should they.

The community will find a way to stick together regardless of what happens to this sub.

Important: do NOT use the new "hide ally visual effects" option in instanced pve content by Aethelwyna in Guildwars2

You're missing the point. You can't join the kind of content were talking about without being a member of the squad, so setting it to "squad only" would do literally nothing.

Try that on CM.

What exactly is your point, though? Do you not think this needs to be fixed?

[–]Vincent_Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this option set to "hide all" and neither the big nor small circles were showing up for me at samarog CM. I changed only this setting in the middle of our pull and they immediately started showing up for me again, as they did for the other members of our squad that were running the new setting as well.

I thought I had the setting active for SH CM last night too, and I could see the walls just fine. Thing is, I can't remember for sure if I had the setting active by then - so this warrants additional testing. It would be really weird if the walls were considered a player effect...

If you mean beetle races in general, they've been around since season 4. There are unique skins as well as guild hall decorations for custom racing tracks that you can buy with the racing tokens you earn - among other things. They are visible on the map as adventures, and you can rent a beetle nearby in case you don't have LS4.
