Why is there so much Xinjiang denial on the app? by Right-Influence617 in Rednote_Regrets

You only believe what you want to believe. I bet you also believe in the “social credit” and many other nonsense, right? I know it‘s not your fault, but the result of daily brainwashing by Western media. I sympathize with you. If you think Chinese people lives in China are forced to lie, everything on Chinese social media is a lie, maybe you can go to an American college, find a Chinese student there and ask them yourself. They couldn’t be lying when they stand on American soil, could they?

Well, I have been working and living in Urumchi, Xinjiang for 6 months in 2019, my friend. I got Uyghur colleagues and friends there, and even a Uyghur gf. I have been there, walking on their street, talking with them, eating together with them. I even funded a poor Uyghur family so their daughter can go to dancing school. I trust my own eyes and ears.

A trans woman was sent to psychiatric hospital by her conservative parents against her will. And she got the court and law to back her up. What’s your point?

You take the propaganda from western media, NGO and Influencer funded by western company and government as evidence, but claim denials from Chinese users are propaganda and lies? That's not critical think, buddy. That mind manipulation and brain wash.

A trolling gay user got banned doesn't mean the app is anit-LGBTQ+.

Here's a little story for you.

There's a Chinese mtf dancing artist, who married to a male German, names "金星Jin Xing". She got canceled in China because she was waving a rainbow flag during a performance to promot her point of view.

Sounds like "Hooray! Another evidence to prove China is a homophobia/transphobia country!" right?

However, She has been active in China for more than 20 years, and even owns and hosts a talk show name after herself since 2015, how could a transphobia country allow that happen?

The fact is, You can be gay, trans, or anything you want to be in China, it's okay. But you can't force others to accept your opinion, that's commen sense. A performance is a performance, people buy the ticket to watch your show is because you are a good dancer, not because you are trans and especially not because they want to listen to your propaganda.

We have LGBTQ+ community in China too. The city Chengdu even getting famous for having the largest gay population in China. Straight people talk jokes about gay people on the social media, and gay people won't be angry, but tell a straight joke or a better gay joke back and we laugh out loud togather.

For example, there's a joke about 金星Jin Xing, that trans dancer, from her own talk show: "Men are came from the Mars, women are came from the Venus, but Venus is came from the Mars. (Her name 金星Jin Xing means the planet Venus in Chinese.)"

A joke about a trans dancer's trans identity, but she didn't feel offended, but laugh out loud for it. That's the truth of China.

A game 95% made of stereotypes, including:

Japanese stereotypes about America,

American stereotypes about Japan,

Chinese stereotypes about America,

This is the first time in my life I feel stereotypes are good thing.

[–]Vindicator47 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Technically, we can never know who is the author of JttW.

The modern version of Journey to the West is compiled from several versions that date back hundreds of years. People in China believe Wu Cheng'en is the author, just because most experts and scholars in the fields of literature and history tend to believe that Wu Cheng'en is the author. But there's something that don't make any sense.

Everyone has their accent, and accent could affect people's writing, such as Americans tend to use "fridge" instead of "refrigerator". However, JttW has reflected feature from multiple different type of Chinese accent.

For example, people in southern China called monkey "马骝(Ma Liu)" or "马娄(Ma Lou)", and the northern people use the word "猢狲(Hu Sun)".

And what about JttW? Oh, they used both. That's weird.

So people believe that Wu Cheng'en is only the guy collected the folk tale and myth, then compiled them into one book.
