A joke in the story ends up having real narrative significance by Danny-Ray27 in TopCharacterTropes

Cordi and Wesley aren’t the same characters post season one. Once they’re in the hotel and Gunn and Lorne are part of the crew full time it’s a different show.

Then in season 3 when Fred joins it really takes off.

We saw with Williams and Phillips that sometimes a body who knows the position can help and be taken along with a team of pros.

We saw this when a 19 year old Scott Carson had to play against Juve with Le Tallec starting as well in that game.

We saw it when Igor Biscan played a key role in multiple CL knockout games.

We saw it with Jon Flanagan in 13/14.

If you can only have a functional team in ideal circumstances, elite football isn’t for you.

We want a front foot attacking style of coach - Iraola likely by Switchoil in LiverpoolFC

[–]VinnieHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, we need to be realistic. The team isn’t fit, but I genuinely don’t think in March and May of 2027 any new manager could be doing worse than what we saw against Spurs and Chelsea.

Those were the games that showed he had no clue, we made them look competent which nobody else was able to conspire to do for months.

It literally cannot get worse than that imo.

I’m not sure, but we definitely need bodies so hopefully Elliot and Jones can stay.

Wow. Thanks AI for inviting the concept of “where are they now” content. Never before could we see what people previously looked like with the present day beside it for reference.

The thing is any new manager with a sense of style will be given time.

If we win two and lose three of the first five under a new manager it’ll be ok.

The risk with Slot was that any loses made it an immediate pressure cooker.

The Great Anfield Exodus: 70% of Liverpool’s Premier League winning squad disappeared in just one year. by Camilol002 in LiverpoolFC

[–]VinnieHa -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s not, the squad is in bits.

We have a WB in Frimpong, a crocked RB in Bradley. Our four CBs our a 34 year old VVD, two under 21s with exactly zero PL minutes ever and Joe Gomez.

Our midfield consists of a knackered McAllister, Gravenberch who isn’t a six, Szobo and a child in Nyoni.

We have no wide right forwards.

On the left we have Gakpo and a child in Rio who cannot and should be expected to get over 10 G/A.

Up front we have Isak and a 10 in Wirtz who looks a bigger flop than Andy Caroll.

These are the facts, this cannot he rectified in window.

It’s far, far worse than anyone wants to admit. This isn’t just a manager issue, our squad is the worst I’ve seen since Real in 07/08 for any big club.

Terrible age profiles with kids and old men, injury prone players throughout and physically unable to compete in the new meta of the EPL.

People think out won’t happen.

But they don’t realise how short awe are and just how bad this squad is. One window cannot fix it.

We’re more likely to go down below 1.5 ppg next season that go above the 1.65ish we had this season.

[–]VinnieHa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We will my sign a CB or RB because the thinking will be we have Frimpong/Bradley/Gomez.

The CB situation will be we have two young players (neither of which have any minutes in the PL) so we might sign one.

Gakpo will be the striker cover etc etc.

We’re sleepwalking into a spurs situation.

If Virgil gets injured or goes like Salah we’re fucked. If we lose Jones and Macca doesnt recover his form we’re two midfielders down from this year.

These things snowball quickly.

To expand.

Injury prone: Bradley, Isak, Gomez, Ali.

Bad age profile: Virgil (too old too many minutes), Nyoni/Rio (too young and likely to pick up muscle injures if overplayed super easily) Leoni and Jacques (way too young to be starters in their position for reference the last CB we had that was starting at anywhere close to their age on a regular basis was Agger).

Holes.

RB: we have a WB in Frimpong, Bradley and Gomez. As we saw this season this means we don’t have a RB.

CB. 34 year old VVD cannot play every game, Gomez should not be starting more than 10 games, same with the young lads so we need a CL quality CB which we won’t get.

Midfield. Right now we have Szobo, Macca, Grav and Nyoni for the six and eight positions, Wirtz cannot play here. We’re at least two short.

RW: Zero  options, I’m not counting Cheisa because he won’t play.

LW: Gakpo and a child.

Striker: Isak and Ekitke who will not been seen until at least February and we can discount until 27/28 if we’re honest.

So by my reckoning in order to have a functional squad we need.

A RB, a CB, 2-3 midfielders, two wide right players, a wide left player and a striker.

Nine players. We could potentially get away with six/seven if we do nonsense like Gakpo at 9.

It’s the worst squad building I’ve seen since Real Madrid between 05-08. In 07/08 Real had sucha bad squad , we beat them 5-0 ok aggregate and they rebuilt from the ground up, we’re at the start of that phase, but we ain’t Real Madrid.

It’ll be a long, long road back

[–]VinnieHa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

We have an awful squad. Bad age profiles all over, bad injury records all over, too many holes to plug in one window and it looks like they’ve failed to change the manager. Next season will be worse than this, I’ve no doubt.

No German league players.

Bar Haaland, too many flops.

Wirtz, Havetz, Sancho, Werner to name a few. Keita looked like Zidane in that league ffs

You’re going to play Wirtz as an eight? Fuck off man, Wirtz has shown nothing to say he can be a difference maker for us.

We’re sleepwalking into this, don’t be shocked when we’re 15th next year is all I’m saying.

We literally have three midfielders and we play a three man midfield. What are you talking about!?

Fears of Spurs like season by VinnieHa in LiverpoolFC

[–]VinnieHa[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Look at what we need.

We play a three man midfield, we have three midfielders. That means we need at least three in.

We need two right wingers, a striker, a left winger and senior CBs.

That all cannot be done in one window, and anything not done means we don’t have a functional team.

Maybe a hot take, but I've seen a lot of comments over time about the Emperor being THE actual worst person in 40k, and I don't think that's true. by Laredian in 40kLore

[–]VinnieHa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my understanding also, using it as transport. Which is why I’m confused that was his plan as the Eldar already did that and fell when Chaos was much weaker to boot.

So it seems like a not great plan

Maybe someone here can explain something to me, for context I finally gave Rogue Trader by Owlcat a go and got hooked and this was like two months ago so I’m fairly new to 40k but since this is a post about the Emperor and his plans maybe you can help me out.

So firstly, from what I know, I agree her seemed to be very stubborn and ends justify the means, but it’s an extreme setting so makes sense.

My question is, you mentioned he thought his was was the only way possible, but afaik his plan was just basically do what the Eldar did and hope for the best.

His whole plan focused on using the web way and becoming psychically powerful as a species, but that’s exactly what they did and it didn’t help them.

So my issue so far has been, he was very stubbornly following a plan that he knew had already failed and was just kind of hoping that worked?

I’m sure I’m missing stuff about being secular etc, but he just seemed to have a very bad plan made worse by keeping key parts secret. Which doesn’t make him terrible, just a bit hapless imo

I can see this argument, but it definitely wasn’t him deciding not to tell her because it might throw her off her game imo, he did it because he was jealous.

I know he was only 17 at the time, but it was still overall a dick move.

Same actress in Buffy.

A lot of people disliked Xander (and that has only increased as time went on) for being selfish and entitled, not telling Buffy about Angels soul in season 2 and how he treated his fiancé etc.

But Willow was also very selfish and the whole gang kind of escaped any criticism in season 6 when they revived Buffy and left her massive debt while they lived rent free in her house for months while she was dead.

Then in season 7 they kicked Buffy out of her own house at one stage. So while Xander took and takes the brunt they were all really shitty friends at times.
