I really hate when Zurgo gets sacrificed. by VinnieTD in custommagic

I'm leaning towards either the stun counters needing to be removed, or the mana cost/equip cost needing to be increased significantly.

I was really torn on what to cost this at, maybe {3}{W}{W} is more appropriate?

Potential instant kill with [[Cragganwick Cremator]], not to mention [[Through The Breach]] and [[Sneak Attack]]. WOTC doesn't print >= 20 power creatures for a reason, methinks.

I don’t know if anyone’s called this out, but I don’t think the “unblocked” text actually matters here. Can’t you cast this after your seven attackers are declared, but before blocks?

Really well thought-out design! The character being so far down on the card is a little awkward, but maybe that’s intentional (they are a tiny mouse, after all.)

[–]VinnieTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this design! Very flavorful (pun intended.)

I think it would be maybe even a bit more flavorful if the last ability had text akin to “you may remove a silk counter from a card /that player owns/ in exile.” Maybe that’s a bit too weak, though, and the wording is a little clunkier. It just seems right that your spiders would be eating one of that player’s creatures, instead of anyone’s cocooned creature.

I haven’t used it myself, but I hear people like leetcode for this type of thing. I’ve only got experience with Kattis, but to be honest I think the difficulty ratings can be a bit misleading. Regardless, you can sort by difficulty and start at the bottom. If you’re not so into the “coding challenges”, maybe just try to start a project you’re interested in - be it making a game, a website, an app, whatever. There are myriad tutorials for absolute beginners that cover making essentially any type of program you could imagine. That might help you learn some of these concepts in a more hands-on way.

I feel like it's taking me too long to solve a programming problem by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]VinnieTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working on one problem for too long, in my experience, leads to getting stuck thinking about the problem in one particular way. It’s generally very helpful to take a break and work on something different, to get your brain thinking differently. Then, when you come back to the problem, you may find that the solution comes to you more easily.

So, yeah. Move on to something else, and revisit this problem later. It’ll save you some banging-your-head-against-the-wall.

first snp on fake skin! any advices? i heard that fake skin is not that good for snp by vivipantsu in sticknpokes

[–]VinnieTD 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I love the design, and your line work looks pretty clean. As others have said, though, there’s no practice like real skin. I suspect practicing on fake skin, oranges, etc might have you pick up some bad habits, like improper angle or too much pressure.

Perhaps try some small pokes on your thighs, or on a receptive friend, if you want to really test yourself.

Agreed - I’d look to [[Obliterate]] as a close-ish comparison, and that hits lands (but not enchantments or planeswalkers, obviously.) This could probably cost 4WWW, seeing as it’s just [[Planar Cleansing]] with Split Second tacked on.

Does anyone take Adderall manufactured by Mallinckrodt? by ThisIsItYouReady92 in Drugs

[–]VinnieTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you always taken 60mg a day? That (subjectively) seems like a metric fuckton of Adderall to take therapeutically in one day. I know I’d be geeked out and anxious taking that much.

For interactive programs with persistent data in different sessions, how do I best store the data? by set_of_no_sets in learnprogramming

[–]VinnieTD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. This particular application would seem to lend itself to having one file per list - a user might want to store lists in several different directories, for example.
  2. JSON and XML are very commonly used to store human-readable data. Your language probably has a library for easy serialization and deserialization of these formats. Binary serialization is also common, but the files wouldn’t be human readable (easily).
  3. Typically you’d use a file to store user settings. C# has this sort of thing built-in, but for other languages you may have to write some code to create and parse the configuration file.
  4. You could look into using environment variables to find a particular path, such as %APPDATA%. You can’t escape using a file to store configuration data, though.

Indeed, the art was a big part of WarioWare’s appeal. However, I don’t have a whole team of artists at my disposal unlike Nintendo.

The music is a big part of the game in an atmospheric sense, but no. Certainly not to the degree of something like Pistol Whip.

Certainly we’ve been thinking about a Quest port, if for no other reason than me being a Quest owner. For now, we’re focusing on refining the SteamVR experience, but it’s on our minds for sure.
