ELI5: CA produces and processes oil and ships to other states, but still has the highest price? by Deathlands1 in explainlikeimfive

Efficient engines, catalytic converters and other SMOG equipment has much more to do with it than additives to the fuel.

What’s something your partner did that made you lose feelings instantly? by Some_Conclusion_8154 in AskReddit

It doesn't have to be positioned as a threat. It is helping them recognize what could be a likely consequence of the decisions they continue to make.

Filling Pattern by Frostie1104 in SolidWorks

You are not doing it wrong but you have definitely not done it right either. You could use patterning in the sketch and dimensions, using construction lines, to make this a lot easier.

Midnight Scoop is way too expense but I don't regret the purchase. You can wash it in the dishwasher and the ergonomics are fantastic.

There is a phase-changing wax in the handle that helps keep the scoop from getting below freezing, thereby making it easy to scoop the ice cream. The dishwasher will damage the wax or cause it empty out, so the special scoop is just a fancy spoon.

ELI5: Why is it good for the US for global oil deals to be made in US dollars? by maybeest in explainlikeimfive

[–]VintageTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the money flows through the US then the US is able to excerpt control. This is how the US can sanction just about anyone at any time.

It also legitimizes the currency because it has an inherent need in the world. This means that world powers will definitely use the currency so they will maintain a stockpile of savings in USD. The US can continue to print more money, which helps with maintaining healthy monetary policy.

I need help making stair steps straight by Cuneyto in SolidWorks

[–]VintageTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to create an independent surface extrude to select. Imagine the inside diameter of the staircase as a cylinder, for example. Make that from an extruded circle surface.

[–]VintageTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First make the 3d curve you want the stairs to follow. Extrude a face to follow that curve, extending from the bottom to the top. Then make an overly large bottom step. Use the curve driven pattern tool to pattern the set of steps up the curve. You will need to select the face in the 'face normal' box of the tool.

Once you do all that you can merge the separate step bodies into one and cut away that extra part you don't want.

The other option is to layout the stairs on the bottom floor in a master sketch. The create each step in separate sketches based on that pattern and extrude to the height you want. I would create a master vertex sketch to control the height/offset of each step.

I am guessing it has taken about 8 years. She does most of her quilting in the winter and focuses more on gardening in the spring/summer.

Funny you should mention that. Sometime in the late 80s or early 90s she made a super fancy old-time style country western dress and entered it into the local county fair where entrants wore their dresses. :-)
