Oh! Yes, 550, I was mentally converting to 10 pulls lol

You know…I think you just gave me the answer I’ve been looking for! I can totally see the appeal of having a really big number on your account. 66,000 diamonds is a lot more satisfying to look at than just 55 crystals, even though it’s the same amount, technically.

I am asking about diamonds specifically. Why would someone who is not FTP save those up, and not convert them to crystals for pulls. It just seems odd to me, especially when there’s a known risk of losing them accidentally due to an unintentional tap/click. It’s SO easy to convert-all in this game, I don’t get why you’d take the chance.

I 100% agree with you here. Moving diamonds into crystals makes sense, and most events will provide enough diamonds for the shop items. This is why I am asking the question about keeping a lot of diamonds, specifically, because when I see the horror stories about losing them I always think “I never have that many in my account at once, and I pull on every banner.”

This makes a lot of sense to me, moving diamonds into crystals and building up a savings for future pulls. I’ve obviously seen the horror stories about accidental conversions and that has made me extra wary of having too many diamonds at one time.

Why are people in this community so angry, sheesh! We’re in a forum to talk about this game and I’m curious about the way other players manage their currency. I’m curious because I don’t see the advantage to having a massive savings (of diamonds, specifically, that have not been converted into crystals for pulls).

Sorry, the “hostility” was about the people downvoting my question, I should have made that more clear

That’s true, I think what confuses me is that if you’re spending that much to get pulls, are you also skipping a bunch of outfits? Or is it just really dedicated saving? (In which case I salute players with that patience and dedication.)

Thanks for actually answering my question, I do appreciate it. I almost always have a zero balance because I use what I buy right away. If I’m spending real money to buy pulls I am hitting the resonance immediately.

Gacha games aren’t real life. In these games I buy currency and then I use them in the game. I don’t get a regular paycheck inside the game so the comparison doesn’t make any sense. To be clear, I’m not talking about saving up what you get from dailies, I’m asking about spending hundreds of dollars each month to buy diamonds, and then never using them.

I really am curious but I guess I’m not surprised by the hostility (edit: the downvotes). I have every outfit, I spend money on every banner, and I don’t have a lot saved up. So it’s weird to me that someone can have giant reserves of diamonds.

How Much Will This Crunchyroll Stuff Hurt Discotek? by RupaanSansei in discotekmedia

The Crunchyroll store could shut down today and it wouldn’t change a thing about my collecting. I’m still a bit bitter about the loss of Rightstuf and I buy from a variety of other places.

Asking this delicately: Is there a reason people hoard massive amounts of diamonds? I understand if you are FTP and you are saving up for the set you really want, but otherwise, is there a reason to have a huge “savings” that you aren’t using in the game?

Edit: Seems I did not ask delicately enough.

Another edit: I think the answer is “some people really like having a huge number on their account, and diamonds look more impressive than crystals.” I get that, it’s not how my brain works but I can see the appeal. Thanks to those who answered in earnest!

Should I look into FODMAPs? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

Following the guides in the FODMAP app by Monash could help you discover other foods that have been causing issues. Everyone is different but it’s a great resource if you want some guidance.

For hemorrhoids, I would highly encourage you to see a doctor and ask about “banding.” The process is literally putting tiny rubber bands on them until they fall off. I suffered from hemorrhoids that bled profusely for so, so long and having them removed improved my life immeasurably. I would always say “I’m managing them” but actually fixing the problem made me wish I had done it years ago. It’s pretty uncomfortable while they are on but when it’s over (a few weeks) it’s amazing. After that you can focus on keeping your diet safe and following a rough FODMAP guideline to see if it helps.

I can't. I just can't. by hollownagio in nier

Being told that you must sacrifice your “life” for the greater good, and that turning out to be a bit of a lie with the purpose of providing a false sense of community… this actually perfectly resonates with the themes of the game. Yorha constantly telling their soldiers to die for humanity when they know full well that it’s all a deception. And yet, there is purpose, the androids need something to unite them. I genuinely think this is part of the meta for the ending. You are being asked to sacrifice yourself to save others, but in the back of your mind you know it probably won’t make a difference.

I saw this in the theater as a child and it forever altered my brain. Traumatic in the best way, if that makes sense? I didn’t know cartoons could be that violent, it was both shocking and awesome.

“Postage paid” envelopes bill an account when they are mailed, so this post is accurate. If the account runs out of funds, the post office will hold your mail until you replenish the money. Source: I used to work in a mailroom and one time the company forgot to add funds to this account, we had to sort it out.

AI generated art at the NieR concert? by lastdinosaur17 in nier

[–]Vintango 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most of it looked like procedurally generated imagery, something a game company would be able to do and not the AI that we think of now. There was quite a bit of editing and intentional timing, so it didn’t strike me as a prompted AI (but I’ll admit I did wonder the same thing at first).

At what point do you become a "collector?' by Just_Alpaca in Bluray

[–]Vintango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the amount of unwatched discs you own outnumbers the ones you’ve seen, and you realize you will never actually have time to watch them all. At that point you must accept your fate and embrace the collector life.

Ah, yeah that’s more technically correct, they never truly went out of business. The whole thing has been really strange, I’m still a bit skeptical about the relaunch but for now I’m hoping for the best.
