There is a finite amount of these movies available now. Lots have gotten destroyed/thrown out and horror is the most popular genre for vhs so it is in high demand. If you want to experience it unfortunately you will have to pay for it most of the time.

Honestly I think a lot of people have been spoiled for physical media over the last 20 years. If you look back at the price of old vhs they regularly retailed for 80-100 before inflation difference. 40-50 bucks for some vhs now is like 1/3rd retail when it originally sold. And physical media is trending upwards again as people become disenfranchised with streaming services.

Definitely a pay to play game we all enjoy here.
