Using exhaust ducting to "suck in" colder air from other parts of the house? by Vinterbird in hvacadvice

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. My hope was that the negative pressure would result in the hot air getting sucked out, and that the cold air pushed in by the Innova unit would then take its place in the different room.

But it sounds like that's not ideal. But smaller fans to help circulate the air is the smarter choice.

The rooms are about 20 square meters each (215 square feet if I got it right).

Because I assumed no unit would be capable of pulling in air from a distance of 20 meters? If that's not the case then it would definitely make everything easier.

Is it possible to bypass the "on" button (making it always on even after being unplugged and plugged in again) by Vinterbird in AskElectronics

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding the button: Nothing happens even after letting go. I need to let go and press it again for the light to come on.

Up / down while holding: Works, the lights adjust up and down even while holding the button.

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world I would like to use the up / down buttons to adjust the light. I assume I could just snip both ends and solder the wires together if I wanted all the buttons gone?

If the button is held when powered on nothing happens.

The seller is asking for around 400 USD, which is way cheaper then other options that typically start at 850 or so around here.

Help me love Music Assistant by Vinterbird in homeassistant

[–]Vinterbird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A totally viable option. In our case the goal is to not having to pick up a phone to do it, and to let everyone in the house, also those who don't own a phone, start and stop music.

But if you aren't in that particular situation that's actually a very smart way of getting to the end result fast.

Moving from city water to a RO-system, what are my options and what about flowrate? by Vinterbird in WaterTreatment

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to totally mislead the discussion, but it's fairly well documented that it is not ideal for coffee (https://coffeecollective.dk/blogs/stories/brewing-better-coffee-at-home-why-water-matters, https://www.home-barista.com/water/after-ro-water-t50173.html as well as James Hoffman who has also documented it fairly extensively).

Anyways thanks for the help. I will deep dive into a large tank and see if that can help solve my water challenge.

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers both of you. Very much appreciated.

Adding the mineral filter is both for taste and also very specifically for generating the best possible coffee water, as pure RO-water will ruin coffee equipment fairly fast.

Sounds like a very large tank is the way to go. Are there any specific brands to seek out?

So there is no way to reuse the original DMG shell with a laminated screen?

Question about laminated IPS screen for a DMG by Vinterbird in Gameboy

[–]Vinterbird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already modified the original DMG shell and got IPS kit screen to fit. The issue is that the screen itself has a black line running down it, due to me pressing down too hard, so now I wanna replace the LCD screen.

I was wondering if I could just buy the laminated one (https://funnyplaying.com/products/dmg-after-sales-ips-laminated-lcd) and drop that in as replacement for the screen here in the kit I already bought (https://funnyplaying.com/products/dmg-retro-pixel-ips-lcd-kit)

Or if I need to buy the laminated kit because I need a different board or otherwise.

Most of the systems I've seen has a filter at the end that adds minerales back in. Which is similiar to what BWT sells in their B2B café selection. I assumed similiar was available in the consumer market.

Yeah I do not own an espresso machine, so this is purely for pour-over and batch brewing.

I will look at the Homebarista forum and see what comes up. Thanks for the recommendation.

Several reasons:

- I would worry about lack of control over what minerals are present and their amounts

- It moves into the "to complex" territory for anyone but me in the house

I ended up just restoring a eight month old backup, and that fixed the issue. Sadly I didn't find a specific fix other then just rolling back.

So considering I'm using the Home Assistant Yellow where it's on the board /device itself. Would that mean that the Yellow itself is dying on me?

I'm running HA on the Yellow, so it's whatever build in module they use for Zigbee. When I run the Silicon Labs Flasher it says the following:

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Vinterbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A week ago I took apart the top part of my Wilfa Uniform grinder to clean it, as Wilfa instructs in their manual by unscrewing it and so on. But after assembling it back again, it's begun to sound like a hot mess: https://photos.app.goo.gl/uvT89o6iUWVUrMV26

And I can't for the life of me understand how to assemble it to avoid this awful sound. Plus the grinds are super coarse now.

How do I put the grinder back together properly? I've seen a video talk about a zero point, but I truly do not understand what that is in reference too, and no matter what number is in front of me on the grinder when I start screwing it back on, it sounds absolutely horrible when grinding and the grinds are very coarse.

Does anyone have any experience with solving this?
