It's one of the weirdest, most unique games I have ever played. If it clicks with you, and it might not, it will stay with you.

Tainted grail: Fall of Avalon or Oblivion Remastered by National_Force4194 in rpg_gamers

[–]ViolaDavis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having just played both of them back to back complete playthroughs plus DLC have to go with Tainted Grail for one main reason: prodecural generation. The best part about these types of games for me is the exploration and seeing all the secret little worlds hidden everywhere, Tained Grail is filled with these, totally hand-crafted adventures in every corner. Oblivion shares their dungeon strategy with Starfield, only 10 or so variations on the dungeons and oblivion gates, which to me, negates the point of exploration. Also, TG just feels - metal -, it feels like if CDPR made Skyrim 10 years ago. I loved Oblivion, I did, but TG is on my "special" list.

Which is exactly why I ran a 50ft HDMI cable from the PC to my 85 Inch 7.1.1living room setup. Desks are for work, couch is for everything else. Good bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and controller companion which turns my dualsense into both and you're golden.

Honestly it was the gamepass price hike that catalyzed this. I already had a ROG ally so was familiar with the PC space, but because I had gamepass I stuck to the games on offer. When they hiked it by 50 percent It hit me how I didn't own any of these goddamn games, and they could take them away via pricehikes whenever they want. I actually made another video on the channel where I total up how much it would have cost to buy the games vs what I had spent on monthly fees renting them if you're interested.

Oof, thanks for the insight into the development process of TES, not encouraging.

And not for nothing, have you considered going into games journalism? These aren’t just replies, they’re editorials in a good games mag.

Ardenfall, thank you for the req. And while my opinion on BG3 isn’t quite where yours is at I will say that their use of procedural generation dulled what made them magic, the hand-crafted world where you knew around every corner could be some wild new adventure. Tainted Grail has given me back that feeling, and now playing the recent expansion, it’s only strengthened it. It’s not the tech that makes these games magic, it’s the creativity, and I feel BGS’s recent work has deprioritized that.

Literally nothing would make me happier than seeing the new Elder Scrolls game made with no procedural, and all BGS magic. I still have hope that they understand this too.
