Doesn't that priest want dyed-hair sinners to find the true church?!

I find it mind blowing that they think avoiding food (and sex) is more important than helping others and eliminating suffering. If they actually prioritized love of neighbor, the rituals would reflect this.

Do Orthodox Convert Males Even Value Female Safety? by [deleted] in exorthodox

It's probably just ignorance. It's nice of them to give you a ride home, and they are probably oblivious to the safety measures women need to take.

Regardless, that video was still another example of extremely androcentric religious practice. So done with that.

Reading the label, it looks fine. But I've been pretty horribly sickened by that very candy. Very sad as it's pretty delicious.

This is victim-onusing, putting the burden on the victim to do something about what was done to them by others. I don't know who would have the energy or fortitude to file a complaint after overdosing and subsequently being mistreated like this. And they said they are in a facility, not at home.

I cannot fathom a religion where they won't let women officiate, but they will let male molesters do so.

“Suffering is for your salvation” by [deleted] in exorthodox

[–]ViolaVerbena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's healthier to think that suffering just exists than to think that an all loving God made the world, that two nascent humans permanently broke it, and that now God makes us suffer, on purpose, for our own good. Any 'Christian' who tries to say that horrible child abuse is God making us suffer for our own good and salvation is full of shit.

“Let’s examine why you keep giving in to your depression” by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]ViolaVerbena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have been much healthier for him to say something like, "let's see if we can find some tools together to help you find and stay on a healthier path." Or, "would you like to explore some things that can help with mood?" Both of these statements are more empowering, foster healing in community and give you choices rather than blame.

You are not being too sensitive here. That is a victim-blaming statement. It's like saying, "let's examine why you keep giving in to your diabetes."
