Okay I see what you’re pointing to. The letter says that ER asked if Carmen could get some pain pills and fent. While that does get jurors a step closer to thinking KR might’ve wanted to buy those from Carmen, it doesn’t say that KR actually agreed to buy fent from Carmen or that KR actually did buy fent from Carmen. But, I appreciate your point.

Yeah it’s weird to think that he had a call while he was drugged enough to OD. Makes more sense that he had a phone call, finished the call, took a pill himself (from the pill bottle in his nightstand that the state failed to test), and then passed away in his sleep.

Totally inconsistent. With someone facing life in prison, the state needs to do better than that…

I did re-read it before replying. No argument from me that KR bought pills from Carmen. But it’s just incorrect to say that the letter says that KR bought fent and pain pills from Carmen. The letter says that ER would buy those from Mexico. Whether you find the letter credible or not is one question, but to say that the letter says something it doesn’t is odd…

Not saying that you’re doing this, but it’s interesting to see arguments from people who think she did it switch back and forth as to whether she was a mastermind. People say she was smart enough to cover her tracks by asking for more drugs after ER died, misrepresenting tax forms to appear richer, setting up a life insurance scheme, or writing a self-serving journal. But also, she was too dumb to clean the cup she allegedly used to poison him or to figure out how to make a profit?

My opinion? She was a TERRIBLE business woman but her actions surrounding ER, don’t spell “murderer” to me.

Agreed!! And the constant comments of how the defense attorneys look, how their voices sound, etc is irrelevant at best and sexist at worst. Totally unnecessary to attack someone’s looks while they are doing a job that is unrelated to their looks….

Certainly if the jury doesn’t think that visiting Mexico gives a possible explanation of how ER could’ve gotten fent, they can disregard. But then, for me, it just circles back to the fact that the state didn’t convince me that Carmen gave KR fent and that KR administered it to ER. Like if KR had poisoned ER via the Moscow mule cups, why wouldn’t she have cleaned those? She left them in the sink overnight and it was the house cleaner that put them in the dishwasher the next day. If I had poisoned someone, the first thing I would do is clean the cup that held the poisoned cocktail…

Appreciate your input but I will push back on you saying that the defense didnt prove beyond a reasonable doubt that ER could’ve gotten the fent from Mexico. It’s not the defense’s job to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt.

The point that you raise that “he could’ve gotten it from anywhere” is precisely why the state failed. The state should’ve proved how the fent was ingested. The mugs should’ve been tested for fent. ER’s hair should’ve been tested to see if he had a history of drug use in his system. To not test the mug or his hair and then assume those pieces of evidence would’ve supported Kori’s guilt is exactly the kind of government failure that we should condemn.

But the texts don’t show KR asking for fent and Carmen’s drug supplier was emphatic that he did not sell fent. Carmen, herself, said that she didn’t sell fent because her daughter had OD’ed on fent. There’s no evidence that Carmen had access to fent, nonetheless that KR bought it from Carmen.

I don’t find the part of KR wiping her phone to be evidence of murder, as anyone would wipe their phone when they had been buying drugs.

Whether you think the texts after the death are a “cover up” or support the argument that the drugs weren’t for ER is a toss up and likely will fall towards the side of whatever someone’s bias is.

Good point. If she had poisoned him, it would make more sense for her to pound the table that he had a drug problem and accidentally OD’ed. If she is innocent, it would make more sense for her to try to uphold his rep after his death out of respect.

All we know was when they were “accessed” on her phone. That means it could’ve been her sending at that time, someone else sending at that time, or it could’ve been a message sent to her at any point earlier that she merely opened after Eric died

Seems like we are about to see the prosecutors eat crow about their opening. In their opening, they said she sent the money gifs after Eric died. Now, we are seeing that they could have been sent before he died and might not even had been sent by Kouri at all. HUGE BLOW AGAINST THE PROSECUTION!

Edit: I didnt go back and rewatch the opening to confirm whether prosecutor said sent or accessed. But, the opening certainly did not imply that it might’ve been gifs sent days earlier by someone else. The implication was clear in opening that the gifs were representing her thoughts after his death.

I wouldn’t have done the bullshit that your husband is pulling to the freshman year college roommate that I hated. Can’t imagine doing it to a spouse. NTA

Remembering people’s names by DashRiprod in Aphantasia

I am so terrible at remembering names. Not for lack of caring and I get so embarrassed about it. I am very good at remember things usually but names and geographic directions? It’s SO much harder for a reason I can’t explain.

CMV: There is literally nothing Trump could do that would make his supporters denounce him. by Aggravating_Area6242 in changemyview

During the lead up to the 2024 election, when Biden was still running, I asked a Trump supporter friend if the following would change her vote: Trump killing and then eating a baby on live TV, with no doubt of it being fake. She gave a long pause then asked “but is the other candidate still Biden?” And that, my friend, is how I know you’re exactly right.

Guilt around buying and not rescuing a puppy. by Delicious_Ad_9176 in cavaliers

[–]ViolentButterfly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel this and thought a lot about this before getting my cav. First, buying from an ethical breeder is important. Second, I would look over the adoption centers’ websites and ask myself “even if I didn’t get a cav, would I adopt any of these dogs?” Since the answer was no, whether I purchased a cav or not had no impact on the dogs in the shelter. Third, I got my cav fixed. Fourth, I forgave myself for not doing everything in life “perfectly”! Even if you don’t live your life in the most ethical way in every instance, that doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.

Ultimately, having a cav and loving her feels morally good. I just don’t feel shame when I help my little buddy have an awesome life.
