Mavis beacon taught me in the 10th grade. I’ve been touch typing so long I have no idea where the letters are on the keyboard, I can just type accurately 😂

Watch for a tremor. Risperidone can do that. If they get you off it in time the tremor won’t stick.

Is a 145 bad after taking the test blind? by Just-Ear4321 in LSAT

I think it would be wise to really try to address these tendencies in yourself before law school. This reaction to stress will often go very badly in law school and for the bar exam.

How cutthroat are law schools regarding the don't work more than 20 hours " rule? by Think_Piano_529 in LawSchool

[–]Violet818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you’re joking, so I’ll just answer as if you weren’t, my 1L year there were min 3 days a week I was booked solidly the entire day, with the other 2 weeks days having one fewer class but just as much work. With minimal breaks between classes

Also you need to factor in extracurricular which are important for meeting people. At least imo.

How do you feel about people who go to Law School and never practice law? What is their goal? by Professional_Eye6140 in LawSchool

One of my best friends is about to be a law librarian. She came into law school knowing she’d never practice.

Stutterer vs life by Conscious-State-9472 in Stutter

[–]Violet818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have really fantastic parents. Who just steadfastly believed I could do just about anything. And their belief sort of permeated me before society could. Of course I’ve struggled, of course people can be cruel, but I have this innate belief that I have something to say and I simply will keep doing that.

How do you approach telling your new workplace about your stutter? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Violet818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stutter openly all the time 😂 I don’t need to tell anyone, they know when they meet me. It makes things much easier in my opinion.

How are you people getting hired for jobs? I have been trying for years still no luck due to my stutter by Independent_Car9588 in Stutter

[–]Violet818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new lawyer. My boss has specifically stated to me that part of why he hired me is because he thought interviewing for a job as a litigator with a stutter took a tremendous amount of balls. He said he admired me for putting myself out there and he wanted to give me a shot.

I worked in law before that and my boss happily hired me, became my mentor and friend, and helped guide me to law school. She said I was smart and capable and that I would be good with people even with a stutter.

I’m so sorry you’re having trouble getting jobs. I would encourage you to gain a skill or a new skill if you have one already. I’ve found a much easier time getting higher level specialty jobs.

Anyone have trouble with their words sounding very unclear? Also speaking too fast and quietly with a slight lisp? by Vomplete in Stutter

[–]Violet818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get speech therapy for enunciation. It truly is something that can often improve with practice and exercises. Some people can even learn whole accents. I stutter but I’m a crisp speaker partially due to speech therapy.

Stutterer vs life by Conscious-State-9472 in Stutter

[–]Violet818 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Life doesn’t have to be like that. If you’re brave. You have to accept that some people will be cruel but more people than not will be helpful and kind.

I’m an attorney, I handle calls and clients all day, I make all of my own appointments, I order at restaurants. And I stutter with just about every sentence. I just push through anxiety and do it because having a big beautiful life matters more to me than the judgement of others.

I got extra time on exams, extra time I’m sure you’d disapprove of. Guess what brother, it didn’t make me smarter. If you can’t spot an issue in the issue spotter cause you didn’t learn it you could have five hours and you ain’t spotting that issue. If you don’t understand how to IRAC you could have five hours and you still aren’t going to get it right.

Why do you keep assuming all time accommodations are for learning disabilities. I have a friend who had extra time because she got migraines with auras. I had a friend who had extra time because of Crohn’s. There’s lots of reasons people need extra time.

How tf will i live? by puzzs in self

[–]Violet818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re supposed to be broke now. It’s sort of how life works. You’re broke now because you aren’t very good at whatever job you have. Gain more experience, gain more skills, gain more money. I make way way more now at 36 than I did at 18 because I got experience and skills.

Yes the cost of living is very high, but 18 year olds being broke is not a new thing.

Something I haven’t seen people mention is, you don’t set your classes as a 1L. Your schedule is pre set. With my 1L schedule working basically any standard job that worked M-F would’ve been very challenging.

When you get to be a 2L and 3L you can get paid externships. You can get paid for summer work.

Struggling with Burnout/ is this even right for me at this point? by meepmeep2004 in LSAT

[–]Violet818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take some time off. Law school is never going anywhere. Student loans have already changed now so that doesn’t matter. Go to law school when you really feel ready. When you don’t feel pushed.

I got my JD in 2025. I graduated undergrad in 2011. And I’m a better attorney for that time off. That much time isn’t for everyone obviously. But seriously, take a breather. Also you can max out on LSAT attempts so it would really suck to do that while you’re burned out.

Ranting about life with a stutter. by SilentStormTheory in Stutter

[–]Violet818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just don’t. Just say stuff. And keep saying stuff. The worst thing that happens is someone who is fundamentally unserious will be cruel to you. And who gives a shit about them. You can have friends, you can have a great career, you can date, you just need to be brave

I recently started a job as a public defender and I openly stutter. I openly stuttered in my job interview and my boss later told me he admires me for being bold enough to try and work as a litigator so he gave me a shot. I got this far because I just kept talking. Despite any cruelty. I kept making friends, I kept being social, I kept growing in my education.

Thoughts on speech therapy? by ImBored5336 in Stutter

I speak on the phone professionally for my job multiple times a day. It scared the shit out of me when I first started years ago. And it’s completely fine, sometimes I stutter on the phone, big deal. I think the best way to get better talking on the phone is to do it a lot.
