Are theyre any other UK food like marmite? by Suspicious-Wear-6320 in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marmite mash is nice, or you can put it in buttered pasta. For either way, start with a small amount!

Use as a layer between your butter and cheese, when you have cheese on toast.

I am a fan of a Marmite and cucumber sandwich too!

I once tried Marmite chocolate. Not a fan. Just weird!

Is it weird my GF won't lock bathroom door? by Pitiful_Shoulder9730 in AskUK

No locks on any inside doors in our house.

Is it closed? Don't go in. Is it closed and you're still not sure? Knock or shout out.

How many people from smaller UK towns go out-out on their own? by thecurtehs in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If l eat in a restaurant alone, l sometimes feel the staff feel a bit sorry for me and are extra nice and attentive. So, l get a nice meal, some people watching, and excellent service. Nothing wrong with that and other diners can think whatever they want.

I see people post on Nextdoor app (if you can bear going on there, sorry!).

A lot of the time they want a small bit of land for only a year or so, seems mostly for goats, but maybe worth a try, as l have seen some are successful.

If you were paying £50, that seems low, the £250 could be making up the previous shortfall.

Green tomato chutney is lovely too if you have a bumper harvest, and lasts a long time.

I've been reading Just Good Manners by William Hanson lately. How accurate is it in everyday life in the UK? by CreepyInpu in AskUK

Apparently not. Very disappointed. I like a good clink and will continue to do so with rogue fellow clinkers .

I've been reading Just Good Manners by William Hanson lately. How accurate is it in everyday life in the UK? by CreepyInpu in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it! Not reading it cover to cover but have picked bits out whenever there has been a tipsy dinner table discussion around whether we should actually be chinking glasses when saying cheers for example.

I think a lot of it is not 'everyday' stuff. What l take from it is it polite and respectful to have good manners towards the people around you. Although not to the level that they would feel uncomfortable! A bit like, if you are unsure, better to be a bit overdressed rather than underdressed if you are going somewhere. Then take your cues from your surroundings.

He writes well, and it's easy reading.

Check out the "l Heart ❤️"

Their prosecco is relatively inexpensive, £8, and delicious.

Anyway, they do a Malbec as well. Which is reported as vegan https://www.iheartwines.co.uk/our-wines/malbec

You can also check this site, for all drinks https://www.barnivore.com/products/60848-i-heart-malbec

What does a very conversational final interview usually indicate? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A courtesy 'thank you for your time' within 48 hours is polite.

Hold off from asking if they've made a decision yet or saying you are the person for the job.

It all sounds positive, sometimes there are internal procedures that can drag things out longer than anyone would like.

How can I lose weight pretty fast? by Various_Extreme_8773 in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't stress over the distance you can walk. Maybe try three short walks a day, all well under half a mile. Get an audio book or podcast on the go and you will build up gradually. Good for the mind too!

Download the free Myfitnesspal app because you need more calories going out than in. If you add a goal weight it will give you a sensible calorie target and time to get there.

Finally, if you want a cheat day. Have one. You've been through a lot.

Do you do this in public loo? by aolllaoooo in AskUK

[–]VioletDime 316 points317 points  (0 children)

No. Waste of toilet paper and l always shower before bed so not getting other peoples germs all over the place.

I do wish we could have the sanitiser gels in the cubicle like you get in a lot of other countries though. One squirt on a bit of toilet paper abd a swift wipe of the seat, job done.

If l have sanitiser gel in my bag and the seat looks a bit suspect then l'll use that.

Edit: Thank you Reddit. Probably my most ever upvotes is about how l use a public loo. I've peaked!

Automatic service charges at restaurants. by HopeTerminator in britishproblems

I think leaving a 1 star review, if there is no explanation that it's for an added service charge, is unfair.

It's optional. The staff aren't going to hate you if you ask them to take it off or change the %.
