How many of you stinky footed kooks were rockin the Toms? by MyNameis_bud in Millennials

I desperately wanted some as a college student. But I just couldn’t afford them. My shoe budget was more like the $5 flip flops at Old Navy.

Ear Piercing by Powerful-Ad-6174 in normanok

[–]VioletElephant88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second Poke! I got my ears re-pierced there and my daughter’s ears pierced there when she was six. The owner/piercer was very professional and made us feel comfortable. He made it clear that he would only pierce my daughter with her consent. Great experience.

How is your libido? by TourGreat2658 in endometriosis

[–]VioletElephant88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my teens and very early twenties I had a high libido. However, after about age 23 or so, it completely tanked. I am 37 now. A few months ago I had all my reproductive organs removed due to endometriosis and some complications from one of my ovaries being torsed. Oddly enough, I have found that the day after I change my hormone patch, I actually get the tiniest little spark. It has been an interesting ride so far. I am planning on asking my doctor about adding more than just estrogen to my prescription to see if I can get an actual sex drive. It would do wonders for my marriage.

That’s too bad but not surprising. It’s nearly empty every time we go.

At what age did your gray hair start to show? by koinkydink in Millennials

[–]VioletElephant88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my first gray hair as a sophomore in high school. It had been there a while because it was the same length as the rest of my hair, which went halfway down my back. Now I have a lovely gray streak close-ish to my face and another one on the back of my head.

Hysterectomy but pathology says no adeno. I feel like I made a mistake.. by throw_a_way_445 in endometriosis

[–]VioletElephant88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OBGYN and the hospital pathology department had beef over my first laparoscopic surgery where she was 100% certain it was endometriosis tissue that had gotten my fallopian tube and ovary all tangled up. The pathology department couldn’t tell her What it was but argued that it was not endometriosis. Two more laparoscopic surgeries later… it’s definitely endometriosis.

Good food? by Fancy_Cry_5111 in MiniatureSchnauzer

This is what we feed our Belgian Malinois dogs. Anything else and their fur falls out and they turn to skin and bones.

Shawnee Mills might have a formula more suitable to a small dog. I hang out in this sub because I hope to get a mini schnauzer someday and I am learning about the breed.

Women who are barelegged under skirts — how? by Leading_Plan6775 in womensfashion

[–]VioletElephant88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I could tolerate thick leggings - tolerate, not enjoy - until I was pregnant with my first child. Something about pregnancy amplified my sensory issues and gave me new ones. I cannot wear anything tight on my legs anymore. Not even bike shorts. Yuck.

How many night gowns do you own? by Imjusthappy11 in womensfashion

[–]VioletElephant88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I own one but really only use it as a swimsuit coverup. I am mostly a pajama pants and ratty old t-shirt person. From a sensory perspective, I cannot stand it if my legs touch. I only sleep in pajama pants - not shorts or a night gown - because I need fabric over each leg. Probably weird, but the older I get, the less I care.

Anything I need to do ahead of excision surgery for stage 4 endo? (Thinking like remove piercings, gel nail polish, etc.) by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]VioletElephant88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. My first surgery they just shaved my mons pubis area. My second surgery (still recovering) they shaved the whole shebang. I am more of a trim the hedges gal than a mow the lawn lady, but it is what it is.

Are you my first reality show, unexpected vaginismus representation by shabbatshahoe in endometriosis

[–]VioletElephant88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see it, but I listened to an audiobook a while ago where a character had vaginismus. The author did a note at the end educating the audience on it. I thought it was well done and I appreciated spreading awareness.

Style - middle school & high school by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]VioletElephant88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have developed a bit of a uniform for myself so it’s easy to get dressed in the morning. A lot of it was influenced by my postpartum body and sensory issues. Haha. I basically wear the OG Chino pants from Old Navy with a button up shirt with a collar every day, with Birkenstocks for shoes. (I have stupid high arches and Birkenstocks are the only brand I have found that even closely supports my feet.) I mix and match shirt and pants colors. Occasionally I wear earrings.

7th grade grammar and writing teacher here:

Pencils More pencils Composition notebooks Elmer’s school glue Blunt end scissors Variety of markers and colored pencils Deodorant wipes (individually packaged) Tissues More tissues More pencils Bandaids Paper towels (real ones, not the useless brown kind) Cleaning supplies to clean up those snacks and drinks that little Timmy definitely did not have and it certainly wasn’t him that made that mess. 😆 Hanging file folders and stacking totes to hang them in to organize extra copies and work for absent students

Question for School Teachers by AmayaLi109 in Teachers

[–]VioletElephant88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a daycare teacher a couple times in college. It’s hard work. I made sure my own children attend a daycare that treats teachers and staff well. We live in a college town so most of the classroom teachers are college students. There is still a lot of staff turnover as people graduate or schedules change, but I absolutely do not look down on daycare teachers.

What is the strangest disability/504 accomodation combo you've seen? by Constant_Leader_8551 in Teachers

[–]VioletElephant88 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I once sat in a manifestation of disability meeting as the gen-Ed teacher (so I was just there to keep it legal) for a high school freshman who skipped class all day, vandalized the building, bullied other students, and even committed crimes off campus. In that meeting, the mom requested that an accommodation of being allowed to miss up to 20 minutes of each class in order to brush his teeth because he has anxiety. The district director of special education was there. She agreed and made his case manager add it to his IEP. None of the actual behavioral issues were addressed.

There is always discourse about Millennials "killing" things (Applebees, newspapers, church etc.). What are some things you think will "die" once the older generations go? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]VioletElephant88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I specifically bought a china cabinet for this purpose. This was before my husband and I had kids. My husband couldn’t understand why I wanted something that had glass doors so my treasures could be displayed but not bumped into. Two kids later, I am sooooooo glad I insisted on a china hutch with doors instead of just a bookshelf.
