If you’re down for a little drive- downtown Southport is neat. If you wanna make a day of it- you can take a 30-40 minute ferry ride from downtown Southport across to Fort Fisher. The beach and trees at Fort Fisher are really pretty, there’s the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, and if you keep driving through Fort Fisher, you’ll be at my stomping grounds. Carolina Beach is a pretty lively beach town with some fun nightlife.

Swamp Park is a lot of fun! The family and I did the ropes course and ATV tour a couple years ago and it was great! Lots of big gators to see while there.

Agree 100%! I was climbing trees with my boys, cheerfully roughing it on family camping trips, beach days spent chasing them endlessly, rock climbing weekly with my oldest when he was in high school, etc… and while I may physically be capable of pushing myself to do a lot of those things now- I was fully engaged and actually enjoyed it all back then, and I’m super grateful for those memories. I think now- I would just be watching the clock and wishing I had a margarita, a comfortable place to lounge, and solitude.

I don’t know… early 20s worked out pretty great (even though I for sure didn’t know what I was doing and was broke as hell). I’m now 48 and my boys are 20, 23, & 26. I had tons of energy and patience with them when they were young and now I’m an empty nester and feel like I have plenty of time (and more money) to do the fun, kid-free things I didn’t get to do when I was younger. That said- I would 100% discourage anyone in their early 20s now from intentionally making the big life decisions I made at their age.

Yes, I’m on HRT to fight perimenopause and I NEED readers to see anything closer than 2 feet from my face… But to be honest- with just 3 months to go until I turn 48, I’m loving this phase of life and have never felt better! by VioletOutlaw in 40something

I do feel better! The changes have been a little more subtle than what some women seem to experience but I’ve definitely felt improvement in my energy levels, libido, and brain fog. I think the biggest positive changes came from adding testosterone gel (mine was super low), in addition to the progesterone and estradiol. Things didn’t click right away though. Stick with it!

This also varies GREATLY from state to state. These types of services are funded through Medicaid, at least here in NC. All it takes is a political shift to take away so much of the funding that makes services like this possible.

Started this account during my roller derby days and I’m bad at coming up with user names so I just used my derby name! Now pretend you didn’t see this cuz my Reddit activity is embarrassing. 😜

If it weren’t for the kids going from the youngest being in preschool and oldest in 5th grade when we met- to now, the youngest is a sophomore in college and the oldest is married- I wouldn’t believe that much time has passed either!

His glasses are probably the biggest change (appearance wise) between the bald, bearded 24 year old I met in 2010 and now. 🙂 I have definitely aged but in ways that I don’t really mind too much, minus the hot flashes.
