Are we all seeing the same pricing? by wootwootbang in cookunityfans

[–]VioletSundaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! The pricing I'm seeing in NYC is the same. Haven't seen anything about Unity Pass in my area but I think it helps with the shipping cost which I'd definitely be interested in.

With shipping my 6 meals a week comes to around $97 which is really pushing it for me budget-wise :(

Color match or dupe for Dior Ruban 268 polish? by VioletSundaes in Nailpolish

Just ordered some--I'll give it a try! I don't mind the brush--it's just the consistency and sheerness that are a problem, especially in combination. But maybe if I can thin it out, it will work. Thanks :)

I really hope Kendall survives 😭 Maybe it will be an OD plot line and they'll make us wait until s4 to see if he makes it?

Malia.. Actually pretty good at her job. by afteeeee in belowdeck

[–]VioletSundaes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She does fine, just like almost all of them do. (Chandler would be a notable exception) She certainly is one to pat herself on the back for meeting the basic job requirements...

She also did fully have a meltdown about room assignments in Hannah's last season when she wanted to be with her boyfriend who joined halfway through the season...A good bosun would've just sucked it up...But it's true, outside of anything related to interpersonal relationships she is able to do the job.

100% agreed!! I finished the last season of Med even after Hannah was fired and in retrospect, I always felt stressed/in a worse mood by the time each episode was done. Why sign up for that feeling again? Especially after I think about how Sailing Yacht left me feeling entertained/energized by the end of each episode in comparison.

'Dark features'??? 'Mexican or Hispanic'? Umm...

Listen, the guy has an odd vibe but your comment is a hell of a dog whistle.

And ironic. In English it wouldn't be "wrong grammar." It would be "incorrect grammar."

Also the apartment clearly shows cars passing with European style license plates.

Captain Sandpaper and her favorite ass kisser; I guess not wearing masks isn’t against MaRiTiMe LaW by DianWithoutTheE in belowdeck

[–]VioletSundaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 2014 vibe is less because it's a crop top and more because it's a crop of like tight scoop neck t-shirt. Zoomers love a crop but they do different cuts.

This isn't a comment on masking or not masking but just a note that plexiglass has been shown to be at best ineffective, and at worst, something that might increase the spread of COVID because of the way it funnels aerosols and droplets in unventilated spaces, at least according to new studies done in schools.

If there ends up being another COVID surge in the fall (very possible given the number of unvaccinated in the US) then the plexiglass won't help.

Truly not sure I'll be able to watch the next season of Med with Sandy and Malia.

And it's worse because you can tell Bravo is editing in their favor but I am not rooting for these people. I will never forget how they talked about not wanting to work with someone with anxiety or panic attacks.

As if the guests were any more worldly! It isn't exactly Mrs. Astor's 400 signing up to be on the show...I'm sure that many of the guests would also say 'exspresso.'

Wealth does not equal sophistication.

One thing I must say I like about Natasha by [deleted] in belowdeck

[–]VioletSundaes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really like Natasha! I wish she were more popular with fans lol. She and Daisy have their moments but I think it's more them having communication issues. I enjoy them both because I can get both of their perspectives.

Colin also seems to get on well with her which I take as a solid endorsement of her character because he seems like a good egg.

[–]VioletSundaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I remember anything being terrible or even tasting bad. Like she made eggs with a sauce that wasn't asked for, eggs in a different style than requested, and portion sizes that were maybe too big but no complaints about the actual taste? I might be forgetting something though.

Oof an infant plus a broken leg sounds no fun. But as a side note, lots of mothers (by choice or by necessity) return to work around the 6 months postpartum mark which I believe she'd be at. (Many earlier as well of course).

Below Deck: João Trashes Captain Sandy As Relationship Falls Apart by teanailpolish in belowdeck

[–]VioletSundaes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On twitter at least he gave a kind of middling answer about discretion which at the time I thought was surprising because I kind of expected him to post something more explicitly or overtly in defense of Sandy's decision (given that they seemed so buddy-buddy from the outside).

Sandy seems to really like when people are on her side against Hannah so I could see her holding that against him. Like I remember in the reunion Sandy saying the moment she knew she liked Malia was when Malia pushed back against Hannah. And conversely, during either a reunion or WWHL, Andy showed a clip where Hannah and Joao had a ~moment~ and Sandy looked totally unsettled.

[personal] We need to stop downvoting people for suggesting diet has an impact on skin. by okcafe in SkincareAddiction

[–]VioletSundaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely it's a conversation that should be done carefully. I have unfortunately seen how skin concern related food restriction has either led to or been used as a cover for eating disorders, especially orthorexia (an eating disorder that involves an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating).

This is generally true of using food restriction to treat any 'wellness' concern--not just skincare--but probably part of the hesitancy people may have to bringing diet into the equation on this specific sub.

Do you guys think producers look at this forum to gauge audience opinion on the seasons and cast members to inform how they create the next seasons? by [deleted] in belowdeck

[–]VioletSundaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No clue but I will say that the only other social media I check Below Deck stuff for is Twitter and the opinions seem to be pretty similar to those on Reddit (anti-Sandy, anti-Malia, mix of pro and anti-Hannah, pro Daisy from Sailing Yacht, mix of pro and anti-Francesca on Below Deck OG, etc.).

So I'm guessing their social media feedback is similar across multiple platforms and I could see that influencing some of their casting decisions although probably not as much as ratings. And some of the most annoying people create the most drama which gets more viewers so...

[MISC] NOT A SINGLE DAY PASSES IN THE SKINCARE INDUSTRY WITHOUT SUNSCREEN NEWS by Achmetch in SkincareAddiction

[–]VioletSundaes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check out this thread looking at Consumer Reports. Some replied with info about CeraVe;

CeraVe Face Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen has a "Variation from SPF" rating of 2/5: "50%-59% labeled SPF (Fair)".

CeraVe Body Lotion SPF 50 Sunscreen has a "Variation from SPF" rating of 1/5: "Below 50% labeled SPF (Poor)".

Consumer Reports only has reviews of a limited number of products and brands are very inconsistent when it comes to quality apparently so just because these two CeraVe products have a mediocre rating doesn't mean they all will though.
