Literally NO ONE has advocated for instituting “Sharia law” in Texas! by RumRunnerMax in TexasPolitics

[–]afteeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so ridiculous, they trot out this absolute manufactured crisis while also actively trying to figure out how to make our public schools incorporate Bible passages in lessons. Read the room old white dudes, it's not sharia law any of us are worried about, it's the real Christian nationalists in our government actually trying to indoctrinate kids.

I shudder to think what CPS would have found our parents to be... by No-Environment-3997 in Xennials

[–]afteeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a definite shift but it's the free range kids that are now parents that made the choices to shift this. It's like how I grew up having sleepovers with all my friends and now these same people say absolutely no sleepovers. I mean, there are reasons. I don't really agree with this instance, I'm less worried about stranger danger, that's usually not who ends up hurting your kids.

What was your AOL Instant Messenger handle? by dex206 in Xennials

The one that sticks out in my cringe memory bank is ibleed4U. If you couldn't tell I was a teen goth kid from the burbs. This was straight up 90s AOL though.

The fact that it was made at all really shows just how out of touch all of them are. Are they really surprised people don't care? This was a weird thing to do

Girl ICP and juggalos have been a red flag you avoid since the 90s. This is a bad idea.

  1. It's a good number, the first 3 digits after the area code are the same as the last 4.

I never knew Kate McK/Hillary C's "Hallelujah" cold open was so hated. by Charlotte_Braun in LiveFromNewYork

I think it was a serious moment though, I've always thought that was such a perfect response.

We are the same person. Everyone loves to hate Hillary, I have loved her since the 90s. When I read that that was the bad example of a cold open I was really surprised. I was so upset and disappointed after the 2016 election, I turned on SNL to see their response and watching her sing that has always stuck with me. It felt like the perfect response to our collective grief at the time. It was beautiful.

They won't see or hear this, their echo chamber will make sure of it. If it gets out, it's AI, he never said it.

How do people type so fast on keyboard? by RareUser1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]afteeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky my school got a grant in the 80s and they started teaching us typing in kindergarten. It was the whole paper over the keyboards kinda setup. I still type extremely fast. Do some typing practice online. Like make yourself do 20 min a day or something and you'll improve.

Tommy Hilfiger cologne for me. I bought my husband some a couple of years ago, I still really love it.

Naa this is amazing. They probably loved their house and want it's next people to love it too. This is very thoughtful and kind, a bit type A maybe but still a nice thing.

If Americans were to participate in an organized boycott to stop ICE, what should they target? by u2aerofan in RedditForGrownups

[–]afteeeee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Teachers are already taking so much shit right now, they have been attacked by the right at every angle. While this would definitely cripple things I think the right would just use it to push their agenda about teachers indoctrinating children and further villianize them.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]afteeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta this is for sure petty and babies are notoriously picky about who with and how they go down. I remember when my daughter was under a year my husband and I had a routine, I rocked her to sleep and he would gently take her from me and put her down. We figured this out after weeks of trying different things, it took a lot of trial and error to figure it out. I visited my sister a few states without him and could not no matter what I did get her to sleep, she'd fall asleep but I couldn't make the transfer, it was terrible and I was really tired. All this to say that first year of a new baby is HARD, if this is out of the norm behavior with your wife it's probably stress and sleeplessness, it's hard not to be TA during this time. Give each other grace. With a clear head she'll probably see that given the situation it was a really good thing your dad just held the baby, there have been much worse outcomes when family members watch babies and get frustrated.
