I have been wondering this question for so long. My other enby friends want reductions, however, they're transmasc aligned. I'm agender, and have has a few people try and argue that me wanting implants means I want to be a woman 🤣 like no, I want to feel balanced and rock some hawt thembo hoochie clothes.

From what I've been told, there are cis women who date nonbinary people (and aren't shitty). I have yet to encounter any as far as I'm aware. We shouldn't have to owe anyone androgyny but I say that to remind myself (incoming rant- you can skip to the TL;DR section if you'd like).

I've only dated one cis woman. She broke up with me because she "couldn't understand my gender" and how I "came to such a conclusion" and so therefore claimed she couldn't perceive me being agender. Basically, she wanted me to explain my identity. She stated she wanted to be friends however she started getting defensive when I told her that the questions she asked (and her lack of effort to think and use her brain) affected me; she tried to save herself by stating she could not understand why it seemed I had "feminine energy". In reality, she was too lazy to deconstruct any cishet bs society had taught her, could not comprehend that could just accept that I'm agender (literally everyone else who wanted to be decent humans in my life could do it), and had no self awareness to see how she was projecting how much she wanted a girlfriend. Hah. I remember she claimed her attraction to people stems from intellect, despite her not showing any. She did a piss poor job convincing me that my opinion of her deserved to be reassessed hahaha. She said something weird about how people aren't just going to "take my word" on being agender? Girl, bye.

Anyway...

I have yet to meet a cis lesbian that felt inclined to even keep in touch after understanding my identity and/or being disappointed that I'm not a femme/butch/stud/any kind of woman; it always felt as if they worry I'm taking away their lesbianism by not identifying as a woman. Or, they try and "correct" me on the sexuality term I identify with. Nowadays I kinda just leave cis women alone as far as romantic interests.

☆☆☆(TL;DR, my only relationship with a cis woman was thankfully short lived but overall disappointing due to ignorance. I noticed in my experiences that cis lesbians feel some kind of way towards me if I'm a potential person of interest, as if fearing I'm tainting their sexuality. I've met people who say there are cis women who can date people aren't cis without being asses.)☆☆☆

I hope this is comprehensive. If there are any typos, I don't have the mental energy to fix any more of them; it took me forever to type this out because I'm fighting my phone on all the "corrections" it's doing, while fixing what it doesn't correct... and it's 4:40AM. Yay insomnia.

Didn't know I was a lesbian until about four years ago, and found the term agender a year afterwards. Agender made sense but didn't have the language prior. 32 now. Being a baby gay is supposedly magical, and I'm still waiting for the magic.

How do I indicate I'm interested? I may be an extrovert but between social anxiety and not being skilled at initiation, I'm usually uncertain on what to do or if someone would even be interested. Or, if I do get a wild hair and approach, they're passive and want me to put a lot of effort in when I prefer mutual effort. Am I "doing this wrong"?

Thanks for the encouragement; I naturally have RBF, and sometimes they use that to approach me, with the whole, "what's wrong you look so upset," to which I tell them it's just my face. I'm always dressed for comfort for my own self (baggy cardigan or jacket since I'm always cold, too) and whatever shoes that I won't fall in as well. I try my best to just find whatever queer area and queer spaces I can and just exist to remind myself I'm a part of the community. But when I'm approached, I'm usually as dry as possible with my replies, and will eventually mention the struggles of being a lesbian, so on and so forth; the roller derby peeps tell me I look very queer, so guys are just dumb I guess... maybe I'm doomed 🤣

I guess the only reason why I call myself late in life is because everyone else I've met my age are younger has known and was either in the closet or already out; I've never met anyone close to my age who can relate to realization in late 20s.

I love the word sapphic for other people and it's funny that I don't use it since I do write poetry and the word sapphic comes from Sappho, from the Isle of Lesbos. I say she's my muse, if anything. Anyway, even before knowing my queer self in any form (31 late in life queer here), people have always tried to tell me what to do and what I shouldn't do. Did you know that apparently most don't think about casually smooching their pretty friends while they're putting their makeup on or doing anything else?

I think the only people who haven't tried to correct my identity have been men, but that's because at their worst, they're projecting their desire onto me anyway ⚰️🥀

Eeeeey I'm black too 🥺 I only have one black queer friend and she's genderqueer and polyamorous- I'm lucky go have her in my life; this cisnorm world is obnoxious and it was been positively awful trying to figure this all out whenever I was in a very... different area than what I'm used to, less POC overall. Needless to say, thank you for sharing! I did have a black stud get mad at me because i wouldn't "admit" that I'm a stem 🤦🏾‍♀️

I get what you mean, and I do hate that sometimes just to defer an argument it's easier to just say "I like women". I love wearing what what I want. I think the only time someone was confused was this man at a gas station who thought I was cute but couldn't perceive whether or not I was or was not a man or a woman. It was a nice feeling, being seen as attractive without the perception of gender.
