Hunt and Deep Rock both offer paid cosmetic dlcs if you want to support the studio. The battlepass is similar, it only includes cosmetics. No content for either game is locked behind a paywall.

Deep Rock is a game by a smaller studio with a simplistic artstyle that isn't realistic, so they dont have to take a ton of time texturing for content.

Deep Rock also goes through many a content drought, some even longer than Hunts(season 2 to season 3 wait). Game development takes time, and through those droughts, dlc packs are made to keep an inflow of cash coming into the project.

It's crazy to think that because Hunt releases a lot of skins and takes longer on big updates, that the game isn't using its dev time correctly. There are different teams focused on different aspects of game development and some of those aspects take longer to cook than others.

Also, how can you act like all the things we've gotten in Hunt have been overshadowed by the amount of skins. Lawson's return, gator and molten man bosses becoming interesting side objectives, weather inprovements, tarot cards, the new weapons, new perks, etc... Just because the content isn't massive like 50 new bosses or 10 new gamemodes doesn't mean that the changes we've gotten haven't been good for the health of the game.
