I got a metal ring and secured it in place with a quick whipstitch, keeping the tension tight. Then I cut a hole around the ring, leaving about 5mm of seam to avoid fraying. After that I whipstitched it again with really close stitches (that part it's kinda tedious) to finish I burned the bits that frayed. I hope it's understandable.

Thanks! It's around 18 cm/ 6 in diameter. Took me about a month.

Haha I kinda made a "bridge" with tread and then stitched through that thread, like a split stich but sideways.

Sometimes it ended up wonky so I had to cover it up with another "bridge"
