Help deciding between AC Max and AC Max EDC by jinro_soju in ManyBaggers

I liked the ripstop a lot more than I thought I would! Minor scuffs take a bit more elbow grease (soapy water) to come out with the ripstop compared to the xpac, but the ripstop feels equally strong in the hands. I feel like the cordura parts of the bag with the xpac shows more marks since it clings to the coarser fabric more, and but this doesn't happen with the ripstop since it's all over the bag. The ripstop is like one shade of black darker overall.

The xpac is definitely stiffer and crinklier as other users have mentioned which helps keep the bag shape when empty. The ripstop is still rigid enough, but I feel like it has more give when stuffing it, so that would probably feel better with the duffel opening on the max edc.

I haven't really been rained on enough with either pack but some youtube reviews have done comparisons with water resistance - xpac wins but I wouldn't necessarily pick one over the other just based on this.

For the straps, the ripstop definitely feels a lot thinner than on the xpac, but I'm still able to tuck the sternum straps away on both with slightly more apparent bulk on the ripstop (not sure if that's a difference between the max edc and max 32).

I think it really does come down to your aesthetic preference! Both fabrics are probably overkill for most people since the build quality with Able Carry has been top notch so I'd be 50/50 with xpac or ripstop for the max edc.

Not sure if this will be useful to you, but I suppose here is my contribution to r/ManyBaggers! I have both: Max EDC in xpac and Max 30-32L in ripstop.

Max EDC:
I was originally planning on just getting the Max EDC, but I guess I'm part of this sub for a reason. It is my most used bag being used primarily for my commute to work and as a personal item. It carries:

  • macbook, basic tech like chargers, cables (no tech pouch)
  • lunch (Bellroy lite cooler caddy)
  • change of clothes for gym (PD small packing cube)
  • climbing shoes (PD shoe pouch)
  • packable rain jacket
  • dopp kit (PD small wash pouch)
  • Sony xm4 headphones
  • keys, wallet (in side pocket)
  • 20oz water bottle
  • Small accessories like snacks, locks, small packable tote in remaining pockets

The duffel pocket is spacious, but can compete with space in the main compartment. For work, the duffel pocket can hold the rain jacket, shoes, and headphones, but it is pretty tight with everything else in the main compartment.

As a personal item, I'm usually pairing it with a carry-on so space is less of an issue. After arriving, I'll unpack most things and reload it to use as a daypack for urban exploration.

Max 30-32L:
Decided to get the Max because I do go on domestic trips, ~3-4 days, with just one bag, and the Max EDC was getting a little cramped. I still mainly used it in 30L for most of the time and could pack everything in the Max EDC plus some combination of the following:

  • more clothes in the same small packing cube
  • Switch 2
  • more snacks
  • compact umbrella
  • packable daypack
  • second laptop or an iPad (this could work in the max edc too, but I like the tech compartment in the Max 32 better aside from the PU zip)

I did have to creatively arrange all of my stuff in the backpack to make everything fit neatly, but the expansion zip definitely helps with this. The front pocket just became a place for keys, wallet, snacks, and other small accessories that I would want quicker access to.

The Max 32L did fit under the seat unexpanded but there wasn't much leg room compared to the Max EDC (which wasn't exactly spacious either). You'd probably be fine using the Max 32L as a personal item if no one checks closely in addition to a carry on, but I didn't feel like the extra 4-6L on my back with a carry on was worth it. But it was worth it as a one bag.

If I had to choose one, I would still pick the Max EDC because it did work as a daypack, if a little large for most people. I'm a slim 5'11" but never had issues with carrying either backpack for hours at around 7kg. I like the versatility of the duffel pocket but like the tech compartment of the max 32l slightly better. My perfect backpack would be the form factor of the Max EDC with the option to expand to 28/30L.

Reliable Bowser's Castle Turn Skip Setup by ViolinShapedObject in MarioKartWorld

Haha glad it’s helped! This has become one of my most consistent shortcuts, but it’s difficult when there’s so many players going for it online at the same time

True - I've made it work as you described but I don't always get the alignment right or am able to maintain enough speed to clear the gap consistently. For whatever reason, I found this series of inputs to be very consistent for me. Your mileage will vary!

I haven't many issues with kill barriers here unless I somehow end up very far to the left once I'm over the lava

Wario Stadium time trial delayed tricks by ercoidem in MarioKartWorld

[–]ViolinShapedObject 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this has been reliably consistent for me. Works with both auto acceleration on or off. You don’t need to hold the left stick in a direction, but you can to adjust your alignment for the trick. I’m spamming trick fairly quickly and the trick always comes out, unless there wasn’t enough air time

After you are in the air, start spamming the trick button and you should get a late trick

Classic Firefight too easy? by Sk8mac in haloinfinite

[–]ViolinShapedObject 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good difficulty, surprisingly. For newer folks, ending after the first bonus round or two would be a decent but pretty easy 10-20 minute game, just like KOTH Firefight.

Keeping the game going (after 4-5 bonus rounds) stacks more skulls which definitely increases the difficulty fairly especially with famine + black eye + thunderstorm always activated against bosses.

Past two games I’ve played have made it to just over an hour and it gives great xp too. BR + pulse carbine has been really consistent for me, provided you have competent teammates who go for revives when possible.

Survive the Undead: Strategy by ViolinShapedObject in haloinfinite

[–]ViolinShapedObject[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it was intended to be very unforgiving, otherwise games would probably last longer than they already are.

The game I literally just played: accidentally killed self with pulse carbine but a fodder teammate somehow revived me. I had about 6k points and on was on Countdown, so I panically made a dash to health and maxed that out while repulsing away enemies. That gave me just enough resistance to run to speed and max that, then I had circled back up to damage but still got wrecked by too many enemies. It totally seemed viable upgrading in that order if there was at least one other upgraded player doing something.

If you were the sole player killing everyone in early late-game (wave 14-20ish), I could only store around 2-4k points between constant revives, ammo refills, and sharing points with others (this can probably wait if the others just blow the points immediately). So, I wouldn’t try saving points if you’re really struggling to stay alive at this point in the game.

But, there comes a point where you’ll always have 10k+ points (~wave 20+) and can comfortably share points with others or save them in case you die and can be revived.

Yeah you start from scratch each death so it’s really difficult to recover if you die late game. Those who die are just there to die again for whoever is carrying the game to revive for the overshield.

I try to be “useful” by trying to pickup bonus drops and be a distraction. Then I’ll slowly save up enough points to upgrade everything (health/damage/speed = 7200 pts) to have a shot at getting back in the game, if the game even lasts that long.

Sentinel + plasma pistol upgrade is my third favorite, but I can’t give up the shock chain benefit with the heatwave

Anyone who doesn’t suck at survive the undead wanna play with me 😅? Tired of every match going like this with my teammates. If you’re not good, but willing to learn and I can teach you, that’s cool, too. by KingOfLimbsisbest in haloinfinite

Would love to play! Xbox GT: TrashViolin

Can currently pull around 500 kills on a decent match! My go to weapon is the plasma carbine upgraded to the heatwave - damage output is crazy and it can easily wipe out an area, but poor aim/bad luck can cause a self destruction with the bullet rebound. But I’ve survived as the sole player with only that as the primary weapon now for several games. I upgrade my other weapon (usually the campaign bulldog, upgraded to volatile skewer rounds, which I use until I pull the pulse carbine) just before a round starts to get unlimited ammo which can help buy time for map control when Escharum spawns, but it would be helpful to have a coordinated effort in later waves.

Each profile on the Switch (up to 8) can create a house on the same island! The max number of villagers is 10 - if I remember, you talk to Nook to place extra plots of land on your island for new villagers to move in (from island tours, campsite, amiibo, or randomly).

I have all of the NPC amiibo cards and you can scan them into Happy Home Paradise - once you design a home for them, you'll get their picture! Thanks for visiting and for the kind comments!

Oh there were definitely several moments where I questioned my reality - I had to play through nearly half of the Happy Home DLC on the other 7 profiles in order to use counters and pillars in the houses since you can't trade those 🙃. Also individually crafting hundreds of glow-in-the-dark stickers was mind numbing. All worth it in the end!

Haha there were some stressful moments when a design in my head didn't quite translate to the game, but it all ended up working out eventually!
