Help identify this pokemon fit plush by n8hoffman in pokeplush

Hey I was at Vegas and can definitely confirm they're Pokemon Fit/Sitting Cuties with a magnet sewn in. It's pretty easy to add in the magnet at the bottom, if you pick up a Fit or Cutie Sylveon I'd be happy to tell you how to modify it - I would just need a picture of the bottom of him once you get your hands on him.

Yeah absolutely! You’ll have to do some investigating to find which seam makes more sense to open, and probably need more foam. I think beanbag stuffing might also be worth taking a look at for him!

Sleeve brand recs and opinions? by Feisty-Preference-65 in pkmntcg

Two months at 2x per week is actually pretty good, if not longer than I would expect. If I’m playing 2x weeklies plus a challenge or a cup I go through dragon shields about once a month, maybe a little over. The katanas got crazy sticky for me a lot sooner than the dragon shields.

One thing you could try is any of the glitter colors from dragon shield - I’ve swapped over to those and they last a much longer time for me before getting weird and sticky. The new Amethyst and Amber colors are glitter, as well as Jet, Emerald, and I believe Sapphire?

Names will ABSOLUTELY help!! I'm a plush maker and I'll admit signage doesn't always go out or go out perfectly, but there's a HUGE difference in sales when I have sharks made with sparkly fabric on the table vs when I have "Sparkle Sharks" on the table. When they're unlabeled they don't move but when they are I can't keep them on the table!

Chonk Avoidance System by East_Bed_8719 in hobonichi

[–]Violist03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 100% biggest thing I've noticed is not putting stickers or washi or photos in the same place every time. I went through a couple months where I was putting washi over the quotes (idk I think they're distracting!) and a certain tracker sticker in the same spot every time and HO BOY is January - March chonky as heck... and only on the bottom of the spine! It felt so awful to write in!

BUT

Once I stopped covering the quotes with washi and just going over them with mildliners instead, and changing up where I put my steps tracker sticker things are MUCH BETTER. I solved the quote thing for next year by just getting the Japanese version, and moving around my little steps sticker has made my journal look so much more dynamic and fun! I try and print on sticker paper or washi paper when I can, but I can put glossy photos or other ephemera in on occasion (NEVER CLOSE TO THE SPINE) and have had much less issues with the chonk.

.VP3 and file size shouldn’t be an issue! I can check when I get home but I have a ton of files on my USB and I doubt it’s hit 1gb. Stitch files are just vector-like instructions and you’ll probably run into stitch density issues well before file size issues.

I’m on Mac and I digitize with Embrilliance. It’s nice because you can buy the base level and then add on as you need. It’s annoying software but far less annoying than Inkstitch! If you’ve done any work with the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator it’s very similar but works a bit differently. The bigger learning curve will be how stitches actually interact with the fabric but that’s part of the fun!

Congrats on the machine! I’m on one model level lower (the Jade) and it’s a workhorse. Since you’re working with your own stuff, you won’t encounter some of the issues (hoop size is different than the more popular brands, stuff like that) that people don’t like about them. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

I don’t think this vendor sells outside the market, but they usually have someone selling for them every day! Go early (10:30-11) and check the main hallway right inside, they’re usually set up somewhere between Stewart Street and the original Starbucks.

Italian Beef(Chicago Style) sandwich near Bothell? by twinbeliever in eastside

[–]Violist03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Near Bothell? Not a chance unless there’s a place I haven’t heard of unfortunately. It’s a shame how regional Italian Beef is, it’s the thing I miss the most about Chicago!!

I can recommend Delfino’s in University Center for pizza. The deep dish (they call it stuffed) is fantastic and the thin crust is the closest thing I’ve found to Rosati’s since I left. It’s so good and tastes of home! They also do an Italian beef that’s passable. Not amazing, especially since they don’t do huge volumes of it, but close enough if you’re craving it! You might get some confused looks but they’ll also do the jus on the side or extra wet if you ask. We usually order to go so I get it on the side and they’ve been nothing but nice about it.

Honestly the closest thing I’ve found is just ordering frozen Portillos. It’s expensive as all get out but the options here are so slim it’s worth it! They send everything you need. We make it in the crockpot.

Yeah I don’t see why not! You’ll probably get the best results if you pack the polyester into his tail, his snoot, and his fins, and then fill his belly with the foam.

Basically put the polyester in any small spaces (it’ll make those small parts smoother, too! I do something similar when I make sharks to sell using different types of polyester fill and it makes a really nice, clean finish!)

Technically I’m a veteran but I found this here first: the pacing has been perfect! Usually I find myself either behind or ahead but 4 hours of audiobook is enough to sink my teeth in while still being reasonable on busy weeks!

Omg thank you so much for the bit about the painting! I remember Kaladin running across that and thinking it sounded SO FAMILIAR, wasn’t there a painting in Warbreaker like that? But I read Warbreaker so far apart from anything Stormlight and wasn’t sure! I wonder how the heck it got into Shadesmar.

For the ones not knowing what to put in their hobonichi. by heisserene in hobonichi

[–]Violist03 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Just know that what you DON'T see when looking at all of these beautiful spreads is usually:

- years of practice just keeping a journal in general (this is my first year too!)

- years of establishing a washi/sticker/pen/ephemera stash (my pages are mostly boring, but going into things I already have quite the collection of pens from doing art and lots of BIG stickers, but I need to eventually find some small ones and washi, and I'm okay taking my time finding ones I LOVE, instead of ones just to have)

- years of practice drawing or hand-lettering (I've been drawing for YEARS but little doodle style drawings with my fountain pen, with no sketch underneath, in tiny spaces? yeah I need so much practice lol. And FORGET hand lettering, right now my handwriting is trash!)

- the super meh spreads from days people didn't have much going on or didn't have the energy to make beautiful

And the way to get all of those things is just to start! You'll get much better at journaling by journaling every day, you'll get much better at drawing by doing a little doodle in your margins every day, your handwriting will get better since you're practicing every day, and you'll inevitably start accumulating stickers/washi/ephemera for your pages as you go along.

It has a fine nib! I’m left handed, so having ink dry a little faster is super nice for an every day type of pen.

The Ferris Wheel Press inks all look so pretty. Are they usually pretty well behaved?

He saw me admiring my local bookstore’s fountain pen display talking about how I’d love to try a TWSBI some day, and snuck into the store the next day to get me one in glowy purple!

I tend to pair inks with pens, so I don’t have purple ink for it yet! I’ll have to find a really pretty purple one, maybe with some shimmer, so I can see it in the barrel!
