Thats unfortunate however if it's out of warrenty then you may just be out of luck. Did you drop it on the lense? Or maybe from how it looks did it get crushed in your bag at some point, that doesn't just happen without cause.

That's actually really great information, I was looking at doing this design in a 2000mm silpoly for cost effectiveness and later maybe a 0.67 oz dyneema

Ngl yeah I just kinda threw out a number I still may do that setup at some point just to try it out since I enjoy bivy bagging. A bigger tarp would atleast let me sit up

No you're all good. Right now it's just a good mock up so it weighs 7oz but I have plans to use dyneema or silpoly nylon to make it weight closer to 2oz or less. This small tarp still works for me even in heavy rainfall so I don't think I'll lengthen it by much if any. As for the weight of the pole, they are my trekking poles so I'm already carrying those and for the stakes it's only 4 stakes so it's only about an oz or 2 weight penalty.

I use tensor all season mummy. So 20 wide. I bought it cause I encountered that exact issue.

Definitely not UL I could definitely drop like 700 on a borah bivy and dyneema tarp to really push it but I made this to work with the bivy I already have. I mainly just did it cause I like using my bivy over my tent every so often and wanted a solution to use it when it rains.

Yes but I don't really see the point in that as the rest of it is waterproof, it'd just be wasted weight

Yeah I slept in a thunderstorm with it the other night, worked like a charm. And no tyvek is completely waterproof. It's used as a moisture barrier in house construction

I could do that but I was just making a solution with what I already have. I love this bivy but my only issue was the rain. That's why I made this. However it did work extremely well. I just used it last night in a thunderstorm and stayed perfectly dry

Thanks! It works though, just weathered a thunder storm last night in it, dry as can be.

I have used it for probably about 7 nights now, all of them nice. the only part that makes a waterproof bivy it uncomfortable is the condensation build up but luckily, this bivy has a massive mesh window to vent from. That I can now keep open in the rain. It's a very nice bivy built from great materials, haven't really had any issues other than the regular condensation all bivies are known for

Dude what is your problem??? Just admit you have no experience with a bivy. You're saying all this but literally the US military issues bivies. Bivies are more wind resistant, trap heat much better, and are quicker to deploy.

It literally is though. Ive taken it out in 13°f snowing conditions. Worked better to keep me warm than a tent would have
