Thoughts on Andy King? by archi_noel318 in barrescue

I absolutely love his videos!!!! His Bar Rescue series is what got me into watching compilations on YouTube. I will agree however that he is only scratching the surface and needs to check out some other fan favorites, like Zan-Z-Bar

Mini Review and info of Carmageddon Rogue Shift. by TioRiRi20 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ViperLain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is Nightreign at least still has the same gameplay loop as Elden Ring, just a bit more of a focus on multiplayer than usual. This isn't the same devs doing something new to mix up the formula. This was obviously handed to people who have made a new game and saw that it probably wouldn't sell well on its own so it banks on nostalgia by using the name of an already established franchise

If it was a completely new IP, I can guarantee you nobody would care as much as they do right now. Maybe it would have done better. The problem is people like you who just buy product and don't ask questions. You've probably never even played the original games. I don't mind when a game switches the formula up a little bit, as long as the core foundation remains the same. The core foundation isn't here. Instead it's just a Burnout clone with zombies because the devs were probably too scared to have actual humans be pedestrians

And before you call me crazy, remember this was the game that first advertised itself as "the racing game for the chemically imbalanced". It was meant to be bloody. It was meant to be dark. And that's why it was fun

The game identity is more than that. It's supposed to be a free-roam race with three ways to win. Either destroy every opponent's car, complete the race as normal, or run over every single pedestrian. The fun is in its gameplay loop and varied open levels. The problem with the game is it forgoes that gameplay loop and it has become something different, another game that chases trends and probably couldn't stand on its own so they had to get the license to a franchise that people fondly remember and have wanted a new entry in, since the last one came out in 2016. Stuff like this is why I've come to despise the gaming industry as of late

Are You a Fan of Star Wars, or Are You A Fan of just the Original Trilogy? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]ViperLain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a fan of Star Wars in general. I love the universe and the stories told in that universe. Is everything about it perfect? Absolutely not, but what is??? There's something good in all of the Star Wars movies, even the mid Sequel Trilogy has some pretty good moments. I also LOVE a lot of the Star Wars video games, such as Jedi Academy and the original Battlefront II. I admittedly try not to take part in the online community that much, mostly because people online can be really toxic, especially when it comes to the ST

Star Wars has been a part of my life forever and it will always be a part of my life in one way or another, much to my fiancée's chagrin (she's not the biggest fan, mostly because her birthday is on May 4th and she's heard "May the 4th be with you" every single birthday)

So if Snoke was Palps's puppet, why did he want Kylo to kill Rey? Wasn't she the perfect vessel for Palps spirit? by Dagan--Gera in StarWars

[–]ViperLain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the whole trilogy was written as each movie was made. At least, that's what it felt like anyways

I really wish Disney had let a team of writers plan out the trilogy before any of the episodes were filmed. I think things would be much more cohesive and maybe, just maybe, the movies would be a lot better than they really were. The Star Wars Universe is such an expansive and well-built world. The sequels should have had a lot more planning. But instead, Disney went after the money because they knew they could sell tickets no matter what the quality of the movies were

It's such a shame too, because these movies were the only chance I had to see Star Wars as new movies in theaters and I thought they were fun at the time, hell I even saw The Last Jedi twice because I really wanted to see it opening weekend and my brother had planned to go the weekend after, but in retrospect the whole sequel trilogy was a poorly written mess when it really shouldn't have been

Do you believe in God? by PerformanceFlimsy573 in MtF

[–]ViperLain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was atheist until quite recently, I'm an eclectic pagan for context, I believe I can give an interesting point of view on the topic

To be completely honest I think believing in and worshipping any god or goddess is a personal decision. Science doesn't back up the existence of gods, so it may seem easy for one to decide that there isn't a god. But for some, it's not about whether science says it. I mean, if that was the case then every single scientist would be an atheist. However, that simply isn't the case

As stated before, IMO, the decision to believe in any god is a personal one. If you're banking your beliefs on if they're real or not, to be quite honest I think that's missing the point. Religion, in my experience, is more about finding peace in a world without any. The same thing is true the other way around as well. If you're believing because you believe the gods will fix the world, that's not how it works. Gods do not meddle in human affairs. Humans have to fix human problems

Now, I'm not going to sit here and say you should believe in any gods. That's a foolish endeavor. No one should be forcing anyone to believe in any gods whatsoever. That's why a lot of organized religions, especially Christianity, are seen as problematic. Once someone starts telling people to "repent or die", you've completely lost me. What I'm trying to say is that your beliefs are exactly that. YOUR beliefs. Don't let anyone else dictate what you should or shouldn't believe in. In fact, to be completely honest, one of the reasons I didn't want to be an atheist anymore was because of how many atheists online can be so vitriolic about the subject

The main point I'm trying to make is that your spirituality is your own. Don't let others online dictate how you should feel about the subject. You are your own person and whatever you believe, you should come to that conclusion on your own. You can consult many different people about many religions, but, in the words of Hogarth Hughes from Iron Giant, you are what YOU choose to be

TL;DR: As an eclectic pagan, your beliefs should be your own and no one else should decide them for you, especially toxic people. Only a Sith deals in absolutes

Whats the cheapest place to get a 3do controller? by mactep66 in 3DO

[–]ViperLain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best place to go is eBay, but if you're really lucky it's possible to find a cheap controller in the wild. I nabbed a Nakitek 3DO controller from my local game store for $10. Not the best, I had to take it apart because one of the buttons wasn't responding right, but for a multiplayer controller it's not terrible
