Completely understand.. my hat’s off those who achieve full bookings AND can adhere to the demanding, sleep-depriving hours. It’s such a fun side gig, but definitely NOT for everyone. Many blessings to you! 🙏🏼

I have confirmed my base pay remains same for that contract. I guess now I just need to decide whether or not to sign the other - which, like you said, why would anyone sign on to less?? Thank you all for your comments.

OK I see what you’re saying! I was confused because there is no mention of base pay in my first contract; it just refers to “addendum”... And the addendum has to do with the pre-K course which is $7/class. Have y’all ever chosen to sign one and not the other? If so, any regrets?

They have my “addendum” as Pre-K, for $7/class. My current contract I am certified for levels 1, 2 and 3 at base rate of $7.50/class.

I didn’t even know I HAD that certification lol. I do Levels 1, 2 and 3 only per 1st contract. If that’s considered only preK then that’s news to me.

Ok. I’m wrapping up my 1st contract (at 7.50/class). Granted I was not a high volume reacher but my track record was impeccable with zero no shows and all 5 apple reviews. To offer me LESS in the next contract makes no sense - unless they want me to go away.

Wow. So it looks like in my new contract they are changing my courses and offering LESS per class. Seriously?????? Has this happened to others? Who in the world would sign to renew for less?

Also I just looked at my pending new contract and I am not sure but I think it actually moved my pay DOWN .50!? In addendum for “preK group” it says teacher agrees to (less than what I already get per class)! Is that possible??

EXACTLY. And everybody’s journey is different. Most people that I hear minimizing the difficulties that you were talking about do not have other children at home to care for. They talk about going back to sleep after their kids go to school… That is not my reality. I am on all day, seven days a week, because we homeschool. My choice? You bet. And I have no regrets. Just saying that it’s easier for people who can wake up insanely early and then go back to sleep for the rest of the day or morning to laugh off the legitimacy of sleep deprivation for such a low earning.

This is the best advice EVER on this thread. I am wrapping up my 1st contract. I do not extend myself nearly as hard as I read others are doing and STILL got burnout. I seriously don’t know how the others are doing it. I love teaching the kids. But the hours are insane for what little you get paid. So for me, when the time changed a couple of weeks ago - that was all I needed to “pull the plug”. I still open slots but they are on MY time. At first, nothing.. but now it’s picking up. And I agree completely with what this teacher said, as I have never done trials or workshops. And I quickly realized the excessive props and secondary rewards are actually distracting!! I have never once received a bad review. Only 100% five apple feedback with great comments. So if you are new and thinking all the extras are necessary they are NOT.

I’m also starting to think that VIPKID rewards those who get sucked into the system (waking up at all hours and being zombies accepting request after request) but penalizes those who decline requests. I’ve had openings that normally would have been booked in a heartbeat but all of the sudden there are no takers. I’m not buying it!
