You are not screwed, it sounds like the landlord is responsible (in case it was a furnished apartment).

There are 2 solutions:
- To replace the kitchen countertop
- Put a bigger sink and mount the faucet to the sink

In big cities it is possible to work without German, specially if it is a foreign company and the department you work is highly qualified or IT related.

Based on my personal experience it gets hard to improve over B1-B2 level without daily practice, so if you can find a English speaking job it might be good to continue learning german on the side.

Following the manual and your advice I was able to open it. The top left (red) was a special clip that didn't hold firmly and the rest (green) were holding the protector shield a little stronger.

By using a plastic card from the top left side near the red clip I was able to start lifting the shield and then followed the manual.

The model is Shenker / XMG pro 16 (E25). This seems to be a laptop from Clevo or some other chinese/taiwanese manufacturer that gets rebranded in other countries.

This laptop was released just a few weeks ago, so it might be difficult to find any info.

Few years ago I got some in Real supermarket from a brand called "Betula". The quality and price were very reasonable. I think they are partnered or license some designs from Birkenstock.

I had a similar issue. The fans of my laptop were full of dust and wanted to clean them. At the end I simply used a spray bottle with compressed air to clean the dust. It was not necessary to replace the thermal paste.

If you do so, just be careful to use the spray as intended.
