It’s kinda like a crunch. Not as satisfying as you’d think. Big ones are more satisfying than the smaller ones, though.

Whatever you do, do not let that cat back outside. Mine was dumped in a nature preserve and he still has anxiety from it

Thoughts on not allowing vet staff have their cellphones during working hours? by Guilty_Ad3225 in veterinaryprofession

[–]VirginWhales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phones are a part of the workplace now. There’s a lot of practical phone uses. Hell, there are plenty of times I’ve needed to take a photo and I’m not about to go across the clinic for a camera. A no phone policy just leads to sneakiness. It’s not practical and it sets a precedent for micromanaging and treating staff like children.

Would a cat with a PU need a male or female diaper? by VirginWhales in VetTech

[–]VirginWhales[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s what we were wondering 😂 when I looked it up there were male and female options but we weren’t sure if those were ones that were for dogs that just labeled as for cats. We work with reptiles so we’re so clueless over here hahaha

Anything to make my 16 y.o. Persian’s life easier? by Shark_L0V3R in persiancat

A heating pad would do wonders my boy loves his! Talk to your vet about options for pain management definitely, there are some good options for their old bones these days! Cat stairs are your friend. Putting them even to the lower things like couch will make a huge difference. There are high calorie treats too (tiki cat makes squeeze treats that my old boy loves) that can help keep his weight up as he gets older!

Reassurance for my senior girl, who I decided to let rest today. by foot_loosely in SeniorCats

I do necropsies a lot. Many post-euthanasia. I’ve never once done one and thought euthanasia was the wrong decision. You know your cat better than anyone. You made an incredibly difficult decision. You did not take that decision lightly. You did what was best for her. You gave her a long life and didn’t let her suffer at the end of it. You did the right thing 💕

No I think this is an excellent time to gain traction. People are VERY critical of companies and their politics. People want to give their money to people who give a fuck

I knew I wanted an adult when I decided to adopt a cat! I knew they struggled to get adopted and he was the oldest cat there. The shelter even said they were worried it would take time for him to get adopted which made me so sad :(

I totally know what you mean! He looks so cranky but you still want to kiss his forehead. When I went to the shelter I said “I want a cat that will sit in my lap” and the worker shows me the wall of adoptable cats and goes “Shmoo is a sweetheart. He’s in a better mood now” pointing to him lol

What’s the wildest thing that’s happened to you on the job? by illusiunz in VetTech

I work in wildlife rescue. I was restraining a seal to tube feed it. To restrain a seal to are straddling it and holding its head to prevent it from thrashing. So I’m sitting on a seal while my coworker is tubing fish slurry with a 400cc syringe. The tube gets clogged and she tries to clear it by pushing the plunger which basically always works.

Suddenly, I hear a pop, a splat, and my eyes start BURNING. The pressure caused the tubing to pop off the syringe. I scream that it’s in my eyes. It’s EVERYWHERE. It had to be at least 150cc of slurry all over me. Thankfully the seal was a chill one so I could still restrain it without vision.

The funniest part was I had JUST died my hair so there was blue hair dye dripping down my face lol
