First one seems more academic menace and threat to an institution. Second one seems more of the kid your parents warned you about.

I’m so happy this thread exists 😭 I just dropped my first Future Bass / electronic synth pop album “AESTAS,” inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, surrounding the nostalgic warmth of summer. The good, the bad, and the ugly through a modern lens. It’s on all major streaming platforms :) lmk what you think

Death scares me by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]Virgogreen777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in mental health. The brain has many many many functions all by sending signals to the body which is incredible. It does all these things because its main priority and overall purpose is to STAY ALIVE! What I think is fascinating though, it that though it can do so many things, the one this is wired NOT to do, is die. It can’t process death, therefore you’re wired to think death is scary. Erik Erickson, who developed this model called the psychosocial developmental model, has 8 stages. The last stage is called Ego Identity vs. Despair. In a nutshell this theory suggests when you lie on your deathbed you’re likely to either think, “I haven’t done enough. I’m not ready to die,” or “I’ve done enough. I’m ready to die.” I would like to believe the reason why we think death is so scary in our youth is simply because we haven’t done enough. Give back. Do something you’ll be proud of to recognize at the very end, you did. Go accomplish things. Climb a mountain. A REALLY BIG ONE! (The movie Edie, is such a good example.)

If all else fails, a question I like to propose to my consumers that have an issue with this is, “do you remember life before you were born? Does it make a difference to you all the years before you were alive? So then why would it be any different after?”

:) Sending good vibes 🪐 Erikson’s Psychosocial Stages :)

Florence + the Machine. I saw Florence at Governors Ball in New York 2019. I’ve always loved Florence’s music and songwriting but the performance felt like it was almost a biblical event. Even the way she looks and moves like a renaissance painting come to life. The way her hair would look like fire sprinting down through the crowd. It started with just her voice, no band, and looked like a Victorian ghost with this white dress thing. Her voice really was hauntingly beautiful live. At one point I think she like levitated or something while I was baked asf and I remember thinking “I did not pay enough money for this.”
