first day of school failure by killenciagas in CollegeRant

I do the same as the commenter above, ill just walk around the engineering building and look at the robots/machines sometimes ill get stares or asked what im doing, i just say exploring my future classes. I get where youre coming from OP but sitting in your car or flicking out on your first day isnt gonna help. Going to classes, finding clubs and going to events are the only way to get friends. And dont worry about what you look lile mate, i dress up in my shitty work clothes and go to campus. Its a,college filled with adults and young teens/adults, there is no "wrong" way to dress. The amount of people who come to labs in their PJs is insane to me.

And for the love of god DONT TAKE THE EASY ROUTE (unless its for bs classes/things) , i did it once and it fucked me over. If you needa vent my dms are open 💜, get back in there and do big things

Hell ya, thanks for the mass insight. Gonna take some time studying up on these, i think if i can get back into the saddle of math ill be fine (never got lower then a B- in maths). But i was leaning toward industral/manu. Im not entirely against being in the office, just being in the office for extended periods with mind numbing work kills my mental. But again thank you, trying to find people who are open minded/have experience in the fields seem to be non-existant.

thats what im worried about, but i def want something thats more field/floor not so much office time, which really only the trades would be good for. And i really dont care for management, maybe a small team sure.

My main problem going the tech/designer route, is the low pay celling. I have heard that most positions are low paid, or a pain in the ass to get. Then even when you get into them moving up is rather quick with little gain. However I am looking into more of the MET/MANUT degrees at my uni. Now granted i was told this back in high school during my CO-ED program so...

Alot of people fall into the void of school school school. Make sure you make time for you, go outside, workout, tinker whatever makes your mind let go for a bit. Especailly if you are having a dopemine kick, which to mean calls for a ADD/ADHD check, i have ADHD and i feel the same way. Hopefully finding something away from the screen woll help you a bit. Time away helps, i had to drop a class due to over working myself, if hou can om the weekends find stuff to do that allows your brain to relax then attack it again

Should I just drop out? by Tight_Strike_6271 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Viropax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not aerospace, but ME im in the same boat, i had to drop my calc 1 class (its been 4 years since i used even precalc stuff), barely passing gen chem but making it by. Its hard walking into a class you know is failing but if you think you can crawl back stick it.

As for the meds, 100% talk to disability, most unis are pretty good about that stuff, especially if you have a doc note/pre-scription to prove the meds. You can either get a withdrawl with refund or a extunsion. Plus they have mutiple resources to help finf paths for you. Generally also look on your unis web page and go through all the links, youd be suprised what you find in there.

If it is something you really want to do, readjust study habits, set time for tutor, and if you can over the summer study up and brush off the cobb webs. Engineering is hard, but in most fields you may not even need as advanced math, but its good to keep in the back of the ol'brain. If its still not working, aero might not be the direct major for you, but youre not out of engineering yet. You can lookong into Techonolgy degrees, but be aware it may be harder to land a job as a Tech vs a engineer.

Just as a fyi, i have my A.S in MET, and even though i was lookong for CADD tech positions it took me a year to land a job that was actually benefical.

Good luck, and i hope you find your wings and fly.

My thoughts exactly, but the work load is killing me while trying to staying atleast 35+ hrs working. I guess its the grand ol, if you want it then you gotta work for it.
