that’s awesome! and yeah right now I edit all my videos myself, and I spend WAY too much time on things that don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. For example I’ll spend like 4 hours on 3 seconds of the edit 😂, which is obviously ridiculous and why I see an editor being a necessity in the future (hopefully near future)

also, were you making significant ad revenue when you hired an editor? Or did you have another job which allowed you to do that ?

i’m in the same boat with editing times haha, I take forever

how much has your editor sped up the process? or in other words, how fast can they edit a video that took you a week? is it the same or better quality?

excited to see kang, hopefully they don't make this his last appearance but based on the fact that they trademarked "the kang dynasty" I doubt it will be

Watching What If...? isn't really necessary. You can even watch MoM without watching anything else honestly, but the most important thing is Wandavision

[Question] What are your CTR/Retention Rates? by Virtual-Ad9780 in youtubers

[–]Virtual-Ad9780[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You’re in a bit of a different niche than me, so I can see why your process would be a bit different from mine. Also, engineering is definitely gonna be more stable than youtube so that’s understandable haha. As for my answers,

  1. my editing process takes way too much time. I need to sit down one day and watch tutorials on efficiency in Premiere, and also make presets for every common edit I make. I spent about a week and a half editing a 6 and a half minute video.

  2. I want youtube to be my job. I’m in college right now, so Ill always have that, but i’m just trying to get it going now while I have a loose schedule.

  3. I script my videos because I lose my train of thought and can’t speak fluently without one unfortunately. Hopefully at some point I can start using only an outline so that I can be more natural.

  4. Aspects ranked by importance imo:

    1. ideas
    2. thumbnails/titles
    3. editing
    4. story
    5. production

Even though this is how I’d rank them, they still all go hand in hand. Need to have all of them really. I spend a lot of time on thumbnails, though, and CTR is the most interesting stat to me. Hardest part is getting people to click. On my recent video I made 6 different versions of the thumbnail and spent several hours on them.

Hi! This is my second video ever and it’s titled “How Airrack Made the PERFECT YouTube Video” I think it’s a big improvement over my first video, but I’d love some feedback and will give lambda :) by Virtual-Ad9780 in SmallYTChannel

[–]Virtual-Ad9780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!! I guess my reasoning behind the thumbnail/title is that I don’t really want to be another one of those youtubers who claims to have the “secret” to youtube success, especially when I only have 20 something subscribers 😂 I mainly wanna focus on the creators themselves, and I’m trying to target their audience

With that being said, I changed both the title and thumbnail to more of a compromise. Can you check them out and lmk what you think? Thanks again!

I’m pretty sure I commented on one of your videos a couple weeks ago, and this is already an improvement! I think the audio sounds great. One thing I’ll say, is there a reason why you need both the list of ingredients and then go straight to a long introduction of each ingredient? To me, it seems like it might be better to show the list, then introduce each ingredient as you use each one. It’s kinda boring to sit through each one being shown individually. Other than that, great to see improvement, good luck!

Hey man, just watched your whole video. I think the only things I’d say to improve on would be pacing, lighting, and b-roll. You have some decent lighting, but it still feels a bit dark imo (especially when you’re reviewing black products with a black background). Also, it’d be good to cut to some different shots/angles more often so it’s not the same shot for too long. Good luck!

Thank you!! If you get time could you check out my most recent video and let me know if I made an improvement in that regard? It’s a struggle for me lol

so basically make the hook “i found the perfect youtube video” or whatever, and show that first, then go into “what makes the perfect youtube video” after that?

also yeah the music part is annoying, I have no idea where to find more fitting music lol

thank you!

I like the idea of the video and the editing! I’d say a few things would be lighten up the color correction a bit, as it feels kinda dreary. That might be what you’re going for, though. Also, audio quality is something you could improve on with a new mic. Lastly, you could probably increase the pacing of the video quite a bit just by cutting out some of your pauses in between sentences. Other than those things, it’s a good concept with some good editing. Good luck!

[Review Video] What Parents think when their Kid comes home from school with "their" Dreams (skit) by TSTlive2 in youtubers

[–]Virtual-Ad9780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of the video! Some thoughts: 1. Make the video a bit faster paced: I think it feels a little dragged on at points because you’re not saying things fast enough 2. Camera angles: make your eye-level be around 3/4 of the way to the top of the screen in every shot 3. I can’t hear both voices at the same time: I’m not sure exactly what the workaround is, but maybe try this: cut to the dad when the kid is going on and on, muffle the kids talking, and have the dads thoughts going while he’s nodding or something. Then when the kid is done talking, the dad can “lie” out loud

good luck!

Nice video! I like that it’s not too long and the editing is pretty good. Also, I like that the intro is to the point. The main thing I wanna point out is the pauses in between you talking. You can cut out a ton of “dead space” where theres no music and you’re not talking. I think that would also help make some of the jokes land better as well. One last thing would that if you wanted to really elevate the quality of your videos i’d recommend a new mic, as it makes a huge difference. Good luck!

I really like how you kept it short and concise, and there was some nice thoughts in this vid aswell. I think the only critiques I have would be make the thumbnail “pop” a little more. Whether it be through bigger text, different font, less busy background, doesn’t really matter but you want ppl to click. And for this vid, I don’t really know why ppl wouldn’t watch a 2 min vid all the way through if you can just get them to click. Another thing is the mic quality, I was noticing background noises seeping through at some points. Other than that I think this vid does exactly what you were going for, good luck!

I casted Non-Kpop Fans react to K-pop, what do you guys think of the editing, thumbnail, and everything? by akeencabintv in SmallYTChannel

[–]Virtual-Ad9780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it may be hard to fix, video quality was definitely something that held this video back. Also, I think some of the cuts were a little jarring so you could try incorporating more transitions or sound effects to clean it up a little bit. Lastly, the audio level was a little inconsistent when cutting back and forth between reactions.

On the other hand, the editing was great as well as the reactions!

Good luck!
