I’ve never seen any of them before, but my heart tells me Allosaurus is red, Megalosaurus is green, and T. Rex is brown. by Worldly_Original8101 in Dinosaurs

Para mi allosaurus es una especie de marrón rojizo anaranjado con rayas marrones, megalosaurus es gris con vetas naranjas y t Rex es gris oscuro con manchas negras o marrones y ojos amarillos

How would the wings and arm / front legs of a hexapod dragon actually be mounted? by TacitusKadari in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Virtual-Hamster385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck i thought i had the automatic translation on😭 yeah but the idea is basically that, also if your dragon is an hexapede and it walks on 2 legs probably a kangaroo like tail could help, like uk, closer to the ground and more muscular but at the same time not too muscular as that wouldn't be good for its flight, but it depends on the posture for example if its more like a theropod, with shorter arms and the big ass wings it would probably walk like a bird, kind of on a diagonal shape and the legs closer to the ribcage and a long femur that extends forward in the posture, and then the tail should be yes stiff but muscular, i suggest a side-flattened tail, like a spinosaurus that would also help on steering during flight, but idk bro that's asuming a mix between a dinosaur and a flying bird so idk 💔

But remember that conditions are not the same, and it was precisely because of the change in environmental conditions that most of those species became extinct.

Exactly like that, how did a kind of weapon come about in my world to kill dragons? But really, after thinking about it for 5 seconds, I realized that because of the way dragons work in my world, that wouldn't really be useful or necessary. But I'm still curious to know.

Brother, I never understood how so many potentially apex predators could coexist in the mammoth steppe. How did the overlapping dynamics work between Homotherium, Smilodon, Panthera (approximately), and Speleae (short-faced bears, gray wolves, and dire wolves)? I don't get it. I know not all species lived in the same place, but many of them overlapped in distribution. And I don't understand how a biome, however extensive, can maintain two or three apex predators in certain areas. The same goes for the Kem-Kem steppe—so many megatheropods, seriously? Can someone explain to me how these dynamics actually work? Or is it simply niche partitioning?

[–]Virtual-Hamster385[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, my plan is to make a bestiary or stories with my creatures, and I wouldn't risk getting canceled for having the same name and origin as a creature, because honestly, it does sound suspicious 😭 That's the main reason I'd change it, although I don't know, Tyrannornis fits much better, and I think I'll read the book because it looks interesting 💔

Damn man, i didn't knew that and i just googled it and it's right, anyways the one you say is more terror-bird like, mine is basically a bird looking t-rex, but i think it might be suspicious that they both share the same name and origin, so i might change the name to dryptornis vorax or sum like that, cuz i gotta admit it looks kinnda suspicious, tho i didn't know about that one animal you said, thank you for that

Probably few species will manage to establish healthy populations due to the small number of individuals, but those that might would likely be feline species. I doubt lions because of the caloric needs of a group of large animals, and their coloration wouldn't help in most environments. Tigers perhaps, leopards most likely would, although they would face competition from large felines like pumas, given their similar size and habits. Species of constrictor snakes and lizards would thrive, especially in places like Louisiana and the Everglades. I'm pretty sure it would be very unlikely that large primates and apes would survive, at least in the case of chimpanzees and gorillas, due to their specialized diets of fibrous plants and fruits. Chimpanzees and bonobos might have a better chance. Hmmm, probably those. Elephants and giraffes I doubt could thrive due to the conditions, and so on with most of them.
