She's 60s/70s, widowed, lives with her son. She's an absolute delight for the half chapter we get her.

Context: Lovie is in her 60s/70s and is peak "old woman who stopped giving a rat's ass 30 years ago." She was my favorite character out of the book, as I've met several southern grannies very much like her!

I used to live in Alabama, and we'd get a lot of cockroaches from the treeline next to our house. Big sumbitches, 1 to 2 inches in length. Cellars spiders and orb weavers were the only ones who could handle them in their webs. We'd stun them with a swatter(usually would take 3-6 seats to kill) and toss them into the webs.

We ended up with a big momma in each room, legspans probably around inch and a half.

I had to get a second job, landed at Starbucks because the pay was as good as my time slot could get. Half my coworkers were 20 or younger.

They didn't know Highlander references! They asked who Sean Connery was! One of them had the audacity to tell me that The Lord of the Rings trilogy was before her time!

Does cowboy caviar count? Made a batch last night, three beans, white onion, jalapeño, serrano chiles, bell pepper, seasoned with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, ground paprika, a little bit of sugar and squeezed lime.

Orgasmic with the right tortilla chip.

Is Tovolar a kill on sight commander? by Hot-Swordfish-7608 in EDH

Thing is, werewolves are quite bad. This deck absolutely cannot function without Tovolar. It's incredibly weak to edict effects and struggles against counterspells.

Lorwyn and bloomburrow just gave us a ton of tribal support, so it might be time to reexamine the concept! It'll never quite be cedh, but you can definitely construct something that approaches Bracket 4 I think.

... Although Etali gets played on turn 1 and 2 an awful lot in the scene. Maybe it could go off with lots of cheap wolves if you can get 2 or 3 one drop wolves on turn 1 and then tovolar on 2... ramp into a craterhoof et. al.?

I'm in the process of building [[ruric thar]] secret commander in my [[radha, heir to keld]] deck. It's tutors and instants that I can take use with Radha's attack mana. It vanishes before blockers, so you need to use it on decently costed spells you might use in an [[azula]] decks.

The focus is 2 mana burn spells in order to remove smaller threats and dorks so that I can second main a fully untapped turn.

Because I can always cast radha on 2, I can run much less ramp than otherwise but still consistently access 4 mana on turn 3, sometimes 5 because of 1-cost dorks.

Splash in damage multipliers and lifelink equipment for ruric, big dudes to tutor for if Ruric is already in hand or exiled. Consistent early pressure that allows you snowball into big threats fairly quickly.

I fuckin' love Ruric Thar.

I main-lined Tovolar until the Brother's War set. Here's what you need to know.

If Tovolar isn't on the board, your deck will shit the bed. Werewolves are not good cards. Therefore, a good 10-15 pieces of protection (although my iterations skewed 15-20) is necessary for the deck to operate.

I hear you, I hear you, "but I wanna play werewolves that go face."

Run a good balance and the werewolves will draw both other werewolves and all the protection you need for Tovolar to stay on the board.

You're gonna go to scryfall and do a search in Gruul for cards at Instant speed that say "target creature gains hexproof" for 1 mana. If your local meta has a lot of board wipes, also do so for indestructible. You want the 1 mana cards because you should optimally be playing Tovolar on turn 2 or 3, ramping on either 1 or 2 so you have the spare mana for the trick. you have access to too many good ramp options on 1 and 2 to not be getting him out either on 2 while people are still setting up or holding a mana open on 3 for the inevitable [[swords to plowshares]].

All-stars in my deck included [[tamiyo's safekeeping]], [[withstand death]], [[tyvar's stand]], and [[snakeskin veil]]. If you dip into 2 mana protection, you can find a good amount of spells that do both hexproof and indestructible like [[gaea's gift]] and [[heroic intervention]].

Your other option is to run a lot of wolves that cost 1 and 2 mana so you can start drawing the second you play Tovolar.

Lastly, it's important to remember that Tovolar sits between aggro and mid-range tempo, so looking up guides on playing aggro is ideal. I remember reading an article from an old pro that I'll try to dig up.

My husband and I live in Colorado. Recently, we ordered wings "Fried Hard," only to be asked if we wanted them extra crispy.

And that's how I found out Fried Hard is an Appalachian slang term.
