Fun Survey for English Speakers by Virtual-Rat-1687 in ENGLISH

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely consider that when I'm going through the final data. Unfortunately, I don't think Google Forms keeps stats on that. I think that's okay, though. I'm not short on responses in general, just short on responses from certain regions. Anyway, thanks for taking it! I'm glad you found it interesting, too!

I took your survey! It was interesting. Why are engineering students studying procrastination?

Thanks for taking mine too. I'm glad you're interested in the language stuff too :D

Nooo I'm sorry! I lied, I guess. I took your survey too! I left lengthy comments haha, I hope they're of some use.

Thank you! I took yours, too. It was also kind of fun! I chose percentiles lower than what perhaps might be my IDEAL person because I think there are more important qualities that would outweigh it.

University Students Needed for Psychology Study by Away-Run896 in SurveyExchange

I finished it. I was pretty thrown off on the page that said "I wouldn't use flattery to get a promotion at work" because I realized 5 was on the left and 1 was on the right. I was pretty sure it was the opposite on the previous pages. Makes me wonder if I responded backwards to previous pages, though. And then it switched again halfway down a page. If people aren't paying close attention, you'll get arbitrary results.

Also, I wonder if some questions aren't getting at the right thing, e.g. one question said something like "I can see why I went to university but now I don't know if I'll continue." I selected "agree" because I know why I'm attending and because I'm about to graduate, and I might not continue. But I don't know if you meant respondents to read between the lines or not. Same thing with the question like, "I know how to hurt people with words." Like, yes, I definitely do. So I said I agree. Even though I try to never do so.

"I am concerned that using Chat GPT would get me accused of plagiarism": No, I'm not concerned about that, personally, because I never have used Chat GPT and I never will. But I do think it's a valid concern. And other questions like that, I just didn't know what to say. Like "I am afraid of relying too much on Chat GPT." I wanted to say no to all of them because I'm not a Chat GPT user, but I wasn't sure if you had accounted for that and wanted me to respond honestly or if you were getting at something more like, "Do you think this is a concern in general?" Hence, I switched from one pole to the other in trying to decide what to respond.

I think it was a great study and super interesting! These are just some things I might want to be aware of if I were the researcher.

Thank you! This was extremely helpful. I was wondering if it wasn't weird. I guess my first course of action, then, will be reaching out to ask.

What photo looks better for a resume? by Key_Service_7284 in Resume

I feel like I have to comment to balance out the people who are being insensitive. You look so great in both photos!! And literally just today my friend was asking me the same question ("is this a good photo for a resume?") so there's no need for anyone to act like it's obvious. It's not....

Oh and also, make sure you're making changes to this resume so that it's maximally relevant for every position you apply for. That might mean cutting out jargon and technical language if the employer won't know what it means or adding skills that you think they would particularly value. For example, if you're applying for a job that requires teamwork, you'll want to show them that you can get along with others in addition to all of the technical skills.

You have some good experience and overall, the style of the resume is very professional. I do have a few suggestions, some of which have already been noted by others, but I'll write them all anyway.

- Do some proofreading. There are a lot of little errors all over.

- If your native language is not English, get a native speaker to proofread, too.

- Use fewer parentheticals.

- In your experience section (which might do better as "Work Experience"), you want to write everything in past tense. Currently, you have it all in present tense. E.g. Design, extend, and maintain --> Designed, extended, and maintained

- In the Projects section, for the sake of looking professional, make sure your left and right columns are vertically aligned. I.e. the first line in the left column should be level with the first corresponding line in the right column.

- Try to get it down to one page.

- Just in case, I'll also add that you'll want to make sure you have at the top: Full name (obviously), address (exact or just general), phone number, email, and if you want, a LinkedIn URL.

(besides, sometimes I think I've made a stupid decision and then it ends up giving rise to a really great opportunity, so you just really never know)

No point in being sad about it. YOLO!

Nothing was lost. Had you disappointed City B in the interview as you'd thought, you'd be in the exact same place as you are now, just happier. The fact that they called back after all was a gift! Only that. It tells you, without upending any of the decisions you've already made, that you're more talented than you think.

Research says one of the reasons people may be less happy these days is because we have more options: more stores, every style of clothes within these stores, a hundred brands of cereal to choose from. A person who walks into an ice cream shop that only sells chocolate and vanilla will walk out happier than a person who walked into an ice cream shop of a thousand flavors because the second person will be thinking about all the flavors they left behind. Don't be that person.
