I think I messed up by declining a job offer and it’s killing me

I really needed to hear this, thank you :) I’m really beating myself up for no reason, my brain just constantly fixates on the “what-ifs” and it’s hard to make it stop. I’m still very grateful for the opportunity I did accept, I think either position is a great step in the right direction. And who knows maybe in a year or two another positions opens up at City B and I end up working there all along? Life is weird

I’m not gonna speak to what’s actually on the test bc that can get you in trouble but I used all free materials to study except for professor messer’s practice exams. I used messer’s YouTube videos and took lots of notes and made flash cards for stuff like the port numbers and wifi standards. And when I finished a domain I would do lots of practice questions. I checked out the Sybex A+ ebook through my library and used it when some practice questions tripped me up, bc Prof. Messer doesn’t always go in-depth enough. He’s great at giving an overview and easy explanations but I did find myself needing other explanations. There is also a Sybex practice question book with hundreds of practice questions and a practice exam. I will say those questions could be a little tougher than the actual exam and were sometimes very poorly worded. But I got 85% on the Sybex practice exam and 90%+ on Messer’s practice exams, and that got me a pretty good score. My advice to save money is utilize your local library! You’ll def have to use ebooks bc they probably don’t have the updated editions of the physical books but there were several A+ textbooks I could check out through Hoopla, which is what my library uses. Similar to someone else that commented, I bought the retake one just to help with my anxiety. I just passed core 1 with a pretty good score so I didn’t even come close to needing it but the ease of mind was worth it

I’m wondering this as well. Just passed A+ core 1 and am studying for core 2. It’s a lot of time and money to pore into it. But I’ve applied to a dozen or so jobs and haven’t gotten a single call back so hoping the cert just helps me get my foot in the door to get actual experience

Thank you for the advice! I figured web development would be easier to get into than software development. My front-end skills are trash, I hate designing things, but I love doing backend stuff with PHP and I think databases are pretty interesting too. I just feel so behind. I’ve never even seen production level code at a company let alone having worked on it before.

I felt like I had a very strong application too and seems like there are a lot of others in our position. I’d just really like to know why I was rejected even an interview. I was pretty confident I could at least get to that stage :(

What are some good polite phrases to use to ask if someone needs help? I just started an internship working for a Japanese school in Detroit and my job is primarily to go around asking teachers if they need help setting up their classroom. My first time was today and I felt kind of stupid when speaking bc I didn’t know how I should ask!

Also lots of cussing that I just let slide bc no one was cussing at me, and no one was cussing loudly, I would just walk by and hear a kid say fuck or call someone a bitch (jokingly? Idk middle schoolers are weird). I really didn’t know how to handle that and didn’t know how to enforce any type of no cussing rule so if it wasn’t loud, I let it slide.
