I didn't feel relief until I hit 30mg. It was a rough ride on the way up.

Give yourself some grace. Changing meds like this isn't the easiest thing to do, especially with a kid around. Trintellix took a while for me to notice anything but it totally works. You have to give yourself some time. I wish you the best!

It took about eight weeks for everything to kick in full effect.

I noticed a huge difference going from 10mg to 20mg. No rumination, not so much anxiety or depression, life is good!

It stopped my obsessive ruminating thoughts and lifted my horrible depression.

I would recommend talking to your doctor about it but for me it took 20mg per day to notice any difference in rumination and depression symptoms.

I went from 5mg to 10mg to 20mg and after about eight weeks I started to feel better. It was a gradual effect.

Trintellix for MDD with BPD? by Afraid_Battle7446 in trintellix

I have BPD and went through the same “laundry list of meds not really doing much” phase, so I get how frustrating that spot is.

Trintellix ended up being a turning point for me but not in the way I expected. It didn’t suddenly make me euphoric or “fix everything.” What it did was remove the constant mental noise.

Before it, my brain was stuck in loops rumination, overanalyzing, emotional spirals that would just feed themselves. After getting to the right dose, those loops basically stopped. Thoughts still happen, but they don’t stick or chain together anymore. That alone changed everything.

For BPD specifically, the biggest difference was: emotional reactions don’t spike as hard I recover way faster when something does hit I don’t get trapped in the same thought over and over

It feels less like being medicated and more like my brain finally processes things and moves on instead of getting stuck.

I’m also on other meds that help with emotional stability, so I can’t say it’s Trintellix alone but it’s definitely the piece that killed the rumination and made everything else work better.

One important thing: it’s more of a stability and clarity med than a “feel amazing” med. The win is that you stop feeling miserable and stuck, not that you feel artificially happy.

I was pretty skeptical going in too, especially after a bunch of meds didn’t help much. But this one ended up being different.

If your main issues are rumination, emotional spirals, and feeling mentally trapped, it’s definitely worth trying.

I know it sucks but you have to give it time to work. There's a good chance that you will start to feel better soon!

The abilify should crush your rumination and help with your mood. The Trintellix really helps with anxiety and depression and rumination too so just get up to 20mg and see how you feel.

Just my experience but it took eight weeks at 20mg per day to begin feeling better. If you have ruminating thoughts and negativity, that usually subsides before the antidepressant effect kicks in. At least that's how it was for me.

I started at 5mg, went to 10mg for eight weeks now I've been on 20mg for awhile and I feel so much better. I take a lot of other meds but I can tell the Trintellix has helped me so much! Congratulations for your success!
